Chapter 532
Jonathan asked, โThen why are you so reluctant to face Liora? Even now, you canโt even look me straight in the eye.โ
โNo, I havenโt,โ Irene cried, burying her face in her hands.
A wave of helplessness washed over Jonathan. โYou wonโt even trust me, your own son,โ he said bitterly.
Irene said, โI do trust you. Thereโs nothing else.โ
Hearing Irene say this, Jonathan clenched his fists, swallowing hard as he fought back his frustration. He said, โFine, Iโll handle this my way.โ
He turned and left the hospital room, unaware that Irene had once again dissolved into heartbroken sobs.
Irene thought, if it hadnโt been for that incident back then, how could I possibly be so ashamed to face Liora now? That was the only wrong Iโd ever done.
Jonathan was about to head upstairs to Lioraโs hospital room when the company PR department called him.
Jonathanโs brow, which had been furrowed the whole time, relaxed slightly in surprise at the other personโs words. After a brief pause, he unlocked his phone.
Seeing Teresa publicly speak up to clear his name, the tension in Jonathanโs brows gradually eased.
The media had reached out to Teresa for a brief interview about Jonathanโs situation. After all, in Nareigh, everyone knew she was Jonathanโs ex-wife.
Teresa agreed to the interview, stating she had seen the accusations made by the video uploader against Jonathanโs family.
Based on her two years living with Jonathan, she said his whole family were wonderful people, and she especially mentioned that his mother, Irene, had always treated her with great kindness.
The reporter asked, โSo, Ms. Johnston, are you suggesting that the whistleblower maliciously fabricated these accusations?โ
Teresa shook her head and said, โI donโt know much about Jonathanโs parentsโ past.
โBut since youโre asking what kind of person Jonathan is, from my experience with him, he was a decent and honorable man, and his family always treated me with nothing but kindness.โ
The reporter pressed, โSo, Ms. Johnston, do you believe Mr. Lynn?โ
Teresa said firmly, โOn this matter, I believe him.โ
After watching the interview, a faint smile tugged at Jonathanโs lips. For a brief moment, his eyes glistened with emotion.
Jonathan entered Lioraโs hospital room, the DNA test results in hand.
Sanford remained eerily calm, completely convinced that he and Jonathan were indeed half-brothers.
Liora said, โNow that itโs been proven Sanford is your brother, and since heโs part of the Lynn family, please, as his elder brother, forgive him. Heโs still young and didnโt know any better.โ
Jonathan said coldly, โHe maliciously and publicly defamed my family, accusing my father of abandoning you, and my mother of extorting property. His actions constitute defamation. Iโve already contacted my lawyer and sent a cease and desist letter.โ
Liora gasped in shock. She exclaimed, โYouโre going to sue Sanford? No, please. Donโt be so heartless. Your father would never have done this. Sanford is your family.โ
Jonathanโs eyes turned icy. He said, โDonโt drag my late father into this. He was his own man, and I am mine. Besides, youโve already admitted you schemed your way into that pregnancy.โ
Liora pressed her lips together, then suddenly turned on Sanford with a sharp rebuke. She demanded, โApologize to your brother! Do it now!โ
Sanfordโs fists clenched, white-knuckled. โWhy the hell should I apologize?โ he shot back.
โDamn it, do you want to rot in jail? Apologize now. Youโre a grown man, not some child,โ Liora snapped.
Sanford scoffed, โGo ahead and sue me. I couldnโt care less.โ
In a fit of rage, Liora swept all the medicines off the table, sending them crashing to the floor.
โMom,โ Sanford cried out.
Liora snapped, โDonโt you dare call me Mom. If you donโt apologize today, Iโll pull out my IV right now. Next heart attack, I wonโt take a single pill, just let me die.โ
