Chapter 514

Teresa: [Sanford, consider this your last warning. If you keep saying nonsense, Hannah will tear you apart.]

Sanford: [Why is Jennifer so afraid the kid will get exposed?]

Teresa didnโ€™t answer, but Sanford wasnโ€™t giving up.

Sanford: [You still havenโ€™t told me who the father is. Fine, since you wonโ€™t tell me, Iโ€™ll assume Jonathan is the dad. Why is he unaware of this even though youโ€™re living in the same city? Didnโ€™t he get a DNA test?]

Sanfordโ€™s questions were endless. Teresa blocked him, finally gaining some peace.

Sanford realized from their interactions that Teresa was the type to immediately clarify whenever she was misrepresented. Therefore, seeing her block him and remain silent, he seemed to figure out something.

He thought, โ€˜Playing dumb, huh? That boy is probably Jonathanโ€™s son. Why had he never known about the kid? How had Jennifer and Teresa tricked him?โ€™

โ€˜Maybe the kid has nothing to do with both of them. Damn, a DNA test would clear everything up.โ€™ Sanford couldnโ€™t stop thinking about it.

Teresa was busy catching up on work she had put off. In the middle of it, she noticed her watch was gone. At the same time, Jonathan called her and told her he got the watch.

Teresa decided to get it back from Jonathan. She also needed to discuss some matters with him.

Jonathan was swamped with back-to-back meetings. Teresa waited for two hours before he finally handed her the watch, barely before heading straight into another meeting.

Teresa realized he seemed to be deliberately keeping her waiting. She thought, โ€˜Fine, Iโ€™m going!โ€™ Then she took the watch and left without even telling him.

It was nearly the end of the workday when Jonathan messaged her again, saying he was done with his meetings. Teresa wasnโ€™t going to, but thinking about the whole legal mess, she went to him again.

When Teresa entered his office, she caught the crisp hint of alcohol on him. Jonathan glanced at her and said, โ€œI had a little drink while waiting for you.โ€

Teresa felt speechless, thinking, โ€˜Donโ€™t pretend like youโ€™re some kind of drinking pro.โ€™

Jonathan asked, โ€œIs there anything else you wanted to tell me?โ€

Teresa said, โ€œItโ€™s about my mom. Charlieโ€™s case goes to court tomorrow.โ€

Jonathan raised an eyebrow slightly at Teresaโ€™s words. โ€œIs that all you want to talk about?โ€

Teresa looked at him coldly and asked, โ€œThen what else do you want me to say?โ€

โ€œAre you going to marry Sanford?โ€ Jonathan asked.

Teresa frowned and shot back. โ€œWhy would I marry a lunatic? I donโ€™t even like him.โ€ Though she didnโ€™t know why he asked that, she figured that was probably why he was giving her the cold shoulder.

Jonathanโ€™s expression softened slightly as he motioned for Teresa to talk about Charlieโ€™s case first.

Teresa said that the old woman hit by Charlie was no longer in critical condition. What was more, she happened to be Genevieve, Fionaโ€™s cousin, so she was somewhat connected to Jonathan.

The point was that Charlie had deceived Evelyn and committed a hit-and-run, so Teresa hoped Jonathan could pull some strings so Charlie wouldnโ€™t get off easily.

Jonathan said, โ€œYeah, that old woman is my grandmaโ€™s cousin. Sheโ€™s still in a coma, and thereโ€™s no way Charlie would get away with this. He canโ€™t pay a dime, so Iโ€™m sure heโ€™s going to prison.โ€

That put Teresaโ€™s mind at ease. She said, โ€œThe trial is tomorrow. Iโ€™m going to watch it. Are you coming?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll come with you,โ€ Jonathan said, idly twirling a pen on the desk.

โ€œOkay.โ€ Teresa had nothing more to say and was about to turn and leave.

โ€œWait.โ€ Jonathan suddenly called out, came up behind her, and hugged her unexpectedly. โ€œYou say you donโ€™t like Sanford. Does that mean you have a thing for me? You cared about me, and that was why you drove three hours just to check on me.โ€

โ€œYou got me wrong.โ€ Teresa struggled in his arms. โ€œI donโ€™t like anyone.โ€

Jonathan stared at her flushed ears, smiling. As she pushed him away again, he told her to stay still and kissed her on the lips.

Teresa struggled fiercely in Jonathanโ€™s embrace, but he pried her lips apart with his teeth and lifted her onto his lap. He held one of her hands, fingers locking together.

Teresa gradually closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of Jonathanโ€™s breath on her lips. It had been ages since she had kissed anyone, and she had almost forgotten what it felt like.

The next moment, Teresa felt coolness against her chest. Looking down, she saw her shirt had come undone, and Jonathanโ€™s hand... She caught his hand just in time and said, panting, โ€œI need to go. I still have work to do.โ€

Jonathan wasnโ€™t about to let her go. His intense gaze locked onto her face as he grabbed her hand and said, โ€œI need you here.โ€
