Chapter 476

Jennifer took a deep breath, got out of bed, and went to wash up, letting cold water run over her face. The place was quiet; nothing like the chaos of her dream. She glanced at the calendar on her desk. Her wedding was getting closer. Almost without thinking, she looked down at her belly, which was still small in these early months. She finally tore her eyes away and headed out to the hospital. No matter what, she couldn’t let anything mess up her wedding with Donald.

Donald was supposed to have lunch with Jennifer. However, since she had a meeting, she asked him to bring her something back, and he agreed. When Jennifer finished her meeting a little past two in the afternoon, she saw Donald coming back in a colleague’s car. She realized she hadn’t seen his Audi A7 for several days.

“Is your car still under maintenance?” Jennifer asked.

“Yeah. It’s still at the dealership,” Donald replied, licking his lips.

Jennifer asked, “It’s been ages. The wedding is the day after tomorrow. Will your car be ready? What about wedding cars?”

Donald said, “Don’t worry. I’ve got it all covered. The main wedding car is a Rolls-Royce, and the rest are Mercedes G-Classes and Range Rovers. My car isn’t that new, so I figured we should just leave it.”

Jennifer didn’t think much of it. She had never even sat in a Rolls-Royce before. She asked, “Don’t tell me you borrowed all those cars from your cousin.”

Donald gave her a helpless smile. “Of course not. It’s easy to rent cars these days. They’re all from a rental company.”

“Alright. I thought you got them from your cousin,” Jennifer said.

Donald shook his head. “I owe Jonathan a lot. He helped out with our engagement. I can’t ask him to pay for the wedding, either. I really don’t want to trouble him again.”

Jennifer had no idea that Donald had begged Jonathan to help her get out of trouble at the hospital before. She didn’t want to worry about wedding cars anymore. “I trust you. I’ll leave everything with you.”

Donald said, “Great. I wouldn’t let you bother with this. Otherwise, what a useless husband would I be?” As he spoke, Donald held Jennifer in his arms, and she breathed in his familiar scent.

Since she didn’t have to worry about anything, Jennifer didn’t put much effort into the wedding invitations. She invited Genevieve, but Genevieve refused. In the end, Jennifer just invited a few classmates and some seniors.

That afternoon, Donald went around to each department to deliver wedding invitations. His coworkers all offered their congratulations to him and Jennifer. A few of the guys slung their arms over Donald’s shoulders and teased him with big grins.

“Donald, you better treat Dr. Nelson right. She’s a total knockout,” one of them joked.

“Stealing a man’s girl is a grudge for life, you know,” another chimed in.

Donald laughed and said, “You’re all just jealous I managed to marry Jennifer, aren’t you?” He sounded pretty proud. Jennifer was the beauty of the hospital, and no one expected Donald to win her over so quickly.

The men kept joking. One said, “Does Dr. Nelson have any sisters? If she’s got a single sister, let us know. We’ll be right there at your wedding party.”

“Jennifer does have a younger sister, but… trust me, you guys should just forget about it,” Donald replied.

“Come on. Don’t treat us like outsiders. Dr. Nelson’s sister must be gorgeous, too. May I ask how old she is?” one said.

Donald shook his head. “Seriously, knock it off. She’s divorced from my brother.”

One of the guys burst out laughing. “She is divorced? Even better. I’ve had a thing for a divorced woman.”
