Chapter 467
Teresa shook her head. He really didn't know. Sanford frowned. He thought, โThatโs his mom. How could he not know?โ
Teresa said, โHe was always busy with work. When we got married, he was just a manager, right at the start of his career. His boss liked him and would often take him out on business trips. Every time Irene picked on me or said I wasnโt good enough, I never complained to him or tattled. He lost his dad when he was little, and his mom raised him on her own. I couldnโt bring myself to make him look unfilial because of me.โ
โHe lost his dad when he was a kid?โ Sanford latched onto that, curled his lip, then spat. โServes him right.โ
Teresa stared at Sanford. โWhy do you hate Jonathan so much? Whatโs your beef with him?โ
Sanford was quiet for a few seconds. โI just canโt stand him. He acts like heโs better than everyone.โ
โYouโve only met him a handful of times. Why judge someone you barely know?โ
โListen to yourself, always sticking up for him. You still have feelings for him, donโt you?โ
Teresa suddenly went silent. She didnโt answer.
โHeโs the CEO of Horizonlead Group nowโstatus, money, looks, heโs got it all. He could easily find someone better.โ
โYouโre no slouch either. Youโre gorgeous, have a great figure, and your personalityโs even better. Honestly, I think youโre way better than Jonathan.โ
โGood personality?โ Teresa let out a self-deprecating laugh. โIโm not that nice. Youโre friends with Hannah, so just look at her temper.โ
โYou mean Jennifer? Sheโs got a pretty good personality, too. Honestly, I think both of you are great.โ
Teresa was speechless and remained silent. It was getting late, the sky dark and heavy, looking like it might rain. Teresa asked Sanford where he was staying so she could give him a ride.
โI donโt have a place in Nareigh, so Iโm staying at a hotel. Once Jenniferโs wedding is over, Iโll head back to Shaville,โ Sanford replied.
โAlright,โ Teresa said, letting Sanford get into her car.
On the way, Sanford suddenly asked, โWhy donโt you come to Shaville with me?โ
โNo way,โ Teresa snapped.
Sanford sighed, sounding a bit disappointed. โI told Hannah I wanted to marry you. I even brought a gift for you. Do you agree?โ
โIโm not interested,โ Teresa replied.
Sanford let out another sigh, his tone turning sarcastic. โGuess I just donโt make as much as he does, right?โ
โItโs not about money. I just donโt have feelings for you. You should find someone whoโs a better match. Weโre not right for each other,โ Teresa said.
Hearing this, Sanford leaned back in his seat and glanced at Teresa. โSo you want to get back together with Jonathan?โ
โNo, Iโm not getting back with him,โ Teresa said.
โAre you planning to stay single forever? You donโt even have kids, and Isabel isnโt your daughter. Youโre still young. Donโt waste your life on a man whoโs not worth it. Youโve got your whole future ahead of you,โ Sanford pressed.
โSay one more word and Iโll dump you on the side of the road,โ Teresa warned.
Sanford fell silent. They drove into the hotel district, but Teresa didnโt stick around. Sanford joked about inviting her up to his room, but Teresa wasnโt about to go.
โYouโve still got time to think about it,โ Sanford said. โIf you want to come back to Shaville with me, I can book tickets anytime. My mom would be over the moon if I brought home a pretty girlfriend.โ
โThere are plenty of pretty girls in Nareigh. Go find someone else,โ Teresa shot back.
Teresa was about to drive off when Sanford suddenly knocked on her window, looking all sincere. โCould you get out for a second? I brought something for Isabel. Could you give it to her for me?โ
