Chapter 467

Teresa shook her head. He really didn't know. Sanford frowned. He thought, โ€˜Thatโ€™s his mom. How could he not know?โ€™

Teresa said, โ€œHe was always busy with work. When we got married, he was just a manager, right at the start of his career. His boss liked him and would often take him out on business trips. Every time Irene picked on me or said I wasnโ€™t good enough, I never complained to him or tattled. He lost his dad when he was little, and his mom raised him on her own. I couldnโ€™t bring myself to make him look unfilial because of me.โ€

โ€œHe lost his dad when he was a kid?โ€ Sanford latched onto that, curled his lip, then spat. โ€œServes him right.โ€

Teresa stared at Sanford. โ€œWhy do you hate Jonathan so much? Whatโ€™s your beef with him?โ€

Sanford was quiet for a few seconds. โ€œI just canโ€™t stand him. He acts like heโ€™s better than everyone.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve only met him a handful of times. Why judge someone you barely know?โ€

โ€œListen to yourself, always sticking up for him. You still have feelings for him, donโ€™t you?โ€

Teresa suddenly went silent. She didnโ€™t answer.

โ€œHeโ€™s the CEO of Horizonlead Group nowโ€”status, money, looks, heโ€™s got it all. He could easily find someone better.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re no slouch either. Youโ€™re gorgeous, have a great figure, and your personalityโ€™s even better. Honestly, I think youโ€™re way better than Jonathan.โ€

โ€œGood personality?โ€ Teresa let out a self-deprecating laugh. โ€œIโ€™m not that nice. Youโ€™re friends with Hannah, so just look at her temper.โ€

โ€œYou mean Jennifer? Sheโ€™s got a pretty good personality, too. Honestly, I think both of you are great.โ€

Teresa was speechless and remained silent. It was getting late, the sky dark and heavy, looking like it might rain. Teresa asked Sanford where he was staying so she could give him a ride.

โ€œI donโ€™t have a place in Nareigh, so Iโ€™m staying at a hotel. Once Jenniferโ€™s wedding is over, Iโ€™ll head back to Shaville,โ€ Sanford replied.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Teresa said, letting Sanford get into her car.

On the way, Sanford suddenly asked, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you come to Shaville with me?โ€

โ€œNo way,โ€ Teresa snapped.

Sanford sighed, sounding a bit disappointed. โ€œI told Hannah I wanted to marry you. I even brought a gift for you. Do you agree?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not interested,โ€ Teresa replied.

Sanford let out another sigh, his tone turning sarcastic. โ€œGuess I just donโ€™t make as much as he does, right?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not about money. I just donโ€™t have feelings for you. You should find someone whoโ€™s a better match. Weโ€™re not right for each other,โ€ Teresa said.

Hearing this, Sanford leaned back in his seat and glanced at Teresa. โ€œSo you want to get back together with Jonathan?โ€

โ€œNo, Iโ€™m not getting back with him,โ€ Teresa said.

โ€œAre you planning to stay single forever? You donโ€™t even have kids, and Isabel isnโ€™t your daughter. Youโ€™re still young. Donโ€™t waste your life on a man whoโ€™s not worth it. Youโ€™ve got your whole future ahead of you,โ€ Sanford pressed.

โ€œSay one more word and Iโ€™ll dump you on the side of the road,โ€ Teresa warned.

Sanford fell silent. They drove into the hotel district, but Teresa didnโ€™t stick around. Sanford joked about inviting her up to his room, but Teresa wasnโ€™t about to go.

โ€œYouโ€™ve still got time to think about it,โ€ Sanford said. โ€œIf you want to come back to Shaville with me, I can book tickets anytime. My mom would be over the moon if I brought home a pretty girlfriend.โ€

โ€œThere are plenty of pretty girls in Nareigh. Go find someone else,โ€ Teresa shot back.

Teresa was about to drive off when Sanford suddenly knocked on her window, looking all sincere. โ€œCould you get out for a second? I brought something for Isabel. Could you give it to her for me?โ€
