Chapter 443
Irene was about to leave, taking Winnie with her. Winnie looked a little upset. โJonathanโs probably just busy,โ she said. โHe said heโd ask me out for dinner next time.โ
Irene patted her hand. โJonathan takes a while to warm up, so I hope you can be patient with him. And donโt take what Hayden said today to heart.โ
โI really like you, and I believe youโre truly sincere about Jonathan,โ Irene continued. โIโm sure youโll be a wonderful partner for him.โ
โThank you, Mrs. Lynn. I wonโt let you down,โ Winnie replied sweetly.
Winnie was always good at winning people over, unlike Teresa, who was stubborn and never gave in. Irene felt quite pleased and encouraged her, saying, โJust keep it up.โ
Cheryl didnโt return to pick up Serena until evening, lugging a bunch of bags to Teresaโs place.
โTeresa, these are leftovers from lunch at the restaurant,โ she said. โI barely got to eat, so thereโs a ton left. You and Mike can help me finish them.โ
As Teresa helped Cheryl with the bags, she wondered, โHow could there be so much food left? After all, Jennifer and Donald just got their marriage certificate today. Shouldnโt the family lunch have been lively and bustling?โ
โDonโt even get me started,โ Cheryl sighed. โTeresa, can you pour me a glass of water first? Let me catch my breath, and Iโll tell you everything.โ
โHang on, I just bought a watermelon. Iโll go slice it up,โ Teresa replied.
Cheryl nodded, took a sip of water, and began telling Teresa what happened that day.
โIrene brought home a woman and said she was Jonathanโs girlfriend. And Jonathan didnโt deny it,โ Cheryl said.
Teresaโs hand froze mid-slice, the knife almost slipping. โSeriously? Heโs got a girlfriend now?โ
โI even took some photos,โ Cheryl continued. โBut she wasnโt as pretty as you. Grandpa didnโt like her and lost his appetite. I was the only one left eating, and I couldnโt finish it, so thatโs why thereโs so much leftover.โ
Teresa brought over the watermelon. โYou shouldโve called me earlier! I couldโve brought Mike to eat with you, and you wouldnโt have had to pack up all this food,โ she teased.
โOh, come on, donโt be so polite with me. Here, take a look,โ Cheryl said, showing Teresa the photo sheโd taken. As soon as Teresa saw Winnieโs face, she recognized her immediately.
She paused. โOh, itโs her,โ Teresa thought.
โI know her,โ Teresa said. โSheโs with Chase Group, right? Last nameโs Shelton?โ
โYeah, I think her nameโs Winnie Shelton,โ Cheryl said. โIrene is obsessed with herโkeeps saying sheโs the perfect wife and mom, raves about her cooking, and always mentions how gentle she is.โ
Teresa remembered what Irene had told her. She would definitely find Jonathan a perfect wife.
Teresa said, โItโs good. Jonathanโs moving on, and Irene wonโt think Iโm still hung up on him.โ
Cheryl clicked her tongue. โBut my sixth sense as a woman tells me Winnie isnโt sincere towards Jonathan.โ
โCome on, Jonathanโs rich, good-looking, and only thirty. Why wouldnโt she be sincere?โ
Cheryl burst out laughing. โTeresa, are you jealous? Feeling a little salty, huh?โ
โI am not! Donโt be ridiculous. Iโd love for him to move on. Anyway, enough about meโgo check on Serena. I only gave her formula today; I didnโt breastfeed her at all.โ
โHere comes your favorite girl!โ Cheryl squealed, arms outstretched as she dashed toward Serena.
After handling things smoothly at her place, Cheryl was about to leave. Teresa offered to drive her, but Cheryl shook her head. โNo need, Iโll just call a cab. Itโll be quick.โ
