Chapter 336
Teresa blurted it out in a burst of anger, even bringing up Ireneโa name she rarely mentioned in front of Jonathan. The moment she said it, her right eyelid wouldn't stop twitching, as if Irene were actually lurking nearby.
Jonathan said, โWhateverโs going on between you and your sister, Iโm just your ex. I donโt have any right to interfere.โ He continued, โAs for my mother, she contacted you before because of Simona. I explained everything in the email, and you said you understood. I know you donโt want to see me. Iโll leave Nareigh. You donโt have to leave.โ But what truly mattered to Jonathan was Teresaโs last words: โI donโt want to be tangled up with you anymore.โ
Teresa looked into his eyes. โIโve already left Nareigh.โ
Jonathan said, โJust because you left doesnโt mean you canโt go back. Iโve been racking my brain trying to get you to return. You lived in Nareigh for so long. Me? Iโm a guy; I can live anywhere. Why canโt you see that?โ
But Teresa simply said, โNo. Iโm not going back.โ She added, โMy sister lives in Nareigh, and so does your mother.โ She paused, then said, โWhen I left, I promised your mother I wouldnโt return. Sheโd think Iโm still chasing after you.โ
Jonathan frowned. โIf my mother doesnโt want you to come back, thatโs on her. Iโll talk to her. She canโt decide where you can or canโt go.โ
Teresa, growing impatient, said, โNeither your mother nor you has any right to tell me where I can go.โ Jonathan stared at her.
Teresa continued, โItโs not like I need to stay in Everport. Honestly, that place in Jade Garden? I didnโt rent itโI bought it. I can leave Everport, but I need to sell it first.โ Sheโd only bought the place so Michael could attend school there. But Jonathan just thought she was being impulsive and not thinking things through.
Teresa said, โSo after I sell the house, where should I go next? Just keep wandering? Silvar, Jarisburg? Where am I supposed to โaccidentallyโ bump into you next time? Letโs just stop running into each other, okay? Honestly, youโre the last person I want to bump into.โ
Jonathan was speechless. He fought the urge to poke Teresa in the forehead. He reached out to her, then withdrew his hand, putting it back in his pocket.
He said, โIf you really donโt want to see me again, go back to Nareigh. If you go back, I wonโt have to worry about you anymore. No one dares to drug you, and no idiot will try to mess with you there.โ In fact, it was Teresaโs fault for what happened between her, Ryan, and Lysander.
She looked at Jonathan seriously. โIโll be more careful from now on.โ
Jonathan scoffed. โMore careful? You canโt even tell star anise from an octopus. You sent your friendโs kid to your ex-coworkerโs place. Am I supposed to believe youโll be more careful?โ
Teresa said, โSeriously, Jonathan, whatโs the point? Youโre my ex-husband. Why do you care so much about me?โ
Jonathan snapped, โFine, I wonโt care about you anymore. Go wherever you want and do whatever you want. Get yourself out of it or donโt. Whatever.โ He added, โAnyway, Iโve figured it out. You never said anything nice to me unless we were in bed. Otherwise, I never hear a single kind word from you.โ
Teresa said, โWhat do you want me to say? Iโve told you Iโm not getting back together with you. Iโve said it a million times. I gave the money back to you; I gave you the bank card. I left it at your office, but you refused.โ
