Chapter 336

Teresa blurted it out in a burst of anger, even bringing up Ireneโ€”a name she rarely mentioned in front of Jonathan. The moment she said it, her right eyelid wouldn't stop twitching, as if Irene were actually lurking nearby.

Jonathan said, โ€œWhateverโ€™s going on between you and your sister, Iโ€™m just your ex. I donโ€™t have any right to interfere.โ€ He continued, โ€œAs for my mother, she contacted you before because of Simona. I explained everything in the email, and you said you understood. I know you donโ€™t want to see me. Iโ€™ll leave Nareigh. You donโ€™t have to leave.โ€ But what truly mattered to Jonathan was Teresaโ€™s last words: โ€œI donโ€™t want to be tangled up with you anymore.โ€

Teresa looked into his eyes. โ€œIโ€™ve already left Nareigh.โ€

Jonathan said, โ€œJust because you left doesnโ€™t mean you canโ€™t go back. Iโ€™ve been racking my brain trying to get you to return. You lived in Nareigh for so long. Me? Iโ€™m a guy; I can live anywhere. Why canโ€™t you see that?โ€

But Teresa simply said, โ€œNo. Iโ€™m not going back.โ€ She added, โ€œMy sister lives in Nareigh, and so does your mother.โ€ She paused, then said, โ€œWhen I left, I promised your mother I wouldnโ€™t return. Sheโ€™d think Iโ€™m still chasing after you.โ€

Jonathan frowned. โ€œIf my mother doesnโ€™t want you to come back, thatโ€™s on her. Iโ€™ll talk to her. She canโ€™t decide where you can or canโ€™t go.โ€

Teresa, growing impatient, said, โ€œNeither your mother nor you has any right to tell me where I can go.โ€ Jonathan stared at her.

Teresa continued, โ€œItโ€™s not like I need to stay in Everport. Honestly, that place in Jade Garden? I didnโ€™t rent itโ€”I bought it. I can leave Everport, but I need to sell it first.โ€ Sheโ€™d only bought the place so Michael could attend school there. But Jonathan just thought she was being impulsive and not thinking things through.

Teresa said, โ€œSo after I sell the house, where should I go next? Just keep wandering? Silvar, Jarisburg? Where am I supposed to โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ bump into you next time? Letโ€™s just stop running into each other, okay? Honestly, youโ€™re the last person I want to bump into.โ€

Jonathan was speechless. He fought the urge to poke Teresa in the forehead. He reached out to her, then withdrew his hand, putting it back in his pocket.

He said, โ€œIf you really donโ€™t want to see me again, go back to Nareigh. If you go back, I wonโ€™t have to worry about you anymore. No one dares to drug you, and no idiot will try to mess with you there.โ€ In fact, it was Teresaโ€™s fault for what happened between her, Ryan, and Lysander.

She looked at Jonathan seriously. โ€œIโ€™ll be more careful from now on.โ€

Jonathan scoffed. โ€œMore careful? You canโ€™t even tell star anise from an octopus. You sent your friendโ€™s kid to your ex-coworkerโ€™s place. Am I supposed to believe youโ€™ll be more careful?โ€

Teresa said, โ€œSeriously, Jonathan, whatโ€™s the point? Youโ€™re my ex-husband. Why do you care so much about me?โ€

Jonathan snapped, โ€œFine, I wonโ€™t care about you anymore. Go wherever you want and do whatever you want. Get yourself out of it or donโ€™t. Whatever.โ€ He added, โ€œAnyway, Iโ€™ve figured it out. You never said anything nice to me unless we were in bed. Otherwise, I never hear a single kind word from you.โ€

Teresa said, โ€œWhat do you want me to say? Iโ€™ve told you Iโ€™m not getting back together with you. Iโ€™ve said it a million times. I gave the money back to you; I gave you the bank card. I left it at your office, but you refused.โ€
