Chapter 330
Miriam would be lying if she said she wasnโt angry. The two traitors had promised to search for Teresa with her, yet after finding her, they didn't even bother to let her know.
Benny retorted, โIf I remember correctly, at first it was only Jonathan and I who actually looked for Teresa. Didn't you say Teresa messaged you, told you she was doing okay, and then you said you wouldn't look for her anymore?โ
Miriam clicked her tongue. โThatโs not the same thing at all, donโt twist it. Just hurry up and give me Teresaโs number.โ
Benny seemed a bit at a loss. โIf you have something to say, I can relay it for you, alright? I promised Teresa that I wouldnโt give out her number. If I go back on my word, Iโll lose her.โ
Miriam fell silent for a few seconds. โAlright. I wonโt call her. Just tell me, is Teresa really doing okay?โ
โShe seems alright,โ Benny replied.
โReally?โ But Miriam still wanted to see for herself. She wanted to see with her own eyes how Teresa was doing, to give her a hug, and talk to her about everything sheโd been holding in.
In Everport, Teresa glanced at the calendarโJune 13th was almost here. That was Miriamโs birthday, and Teresa had circled the date to remind herself.
As it happened, Jonathan had asked her to come to his office, so she thought sheโd ask him to pass on the birthday present she had bought for Miriam.
Teresa said, โI got Miriam a watch for her birthday. Could you give it to her for me? And donโt tell her Iโm staying here. I donโt want to interfere with her dating Edward.โ
Jonathan frowned. The watch Teresa bought for Miriam cost approximately the same as the one she had given him. This meant that, in her mind, he and Miriam were of equal importance.
He took out his phone and checked the official prices. It turned out that his watch was actually two thousand less than Miriamโs. Jonathanโs face darkened instantly. โWhy canโt you give it to her yourself? Do you really plan never to go back to Nareigh?โ
โJust help me give it to her, will you?โ Teresa said. โAnd here, this is the money for the Porsche you bought me. I transferred it from another account to this card.โ
Jonathan pushed the card back towards her. โTake it. Donโt make me shout at you.โ
โWhy are you shouting at me? Youโre my ex-husband, not my husband anymore. Your money belongs to you,โ Teresa replied.
โItโs just a minor matter,โ Jonathan mumbled, not wishing to engage in an argument about it.
Teresa shook her head. โA few million might not mean much to you at present, but given the current state of our relationship, it just doesnโt feel right.โ
Only then did Teresa ask Jonathan why he had called her to the company, and what exactly he wanted her there for.
Jonathan said, โYouโve already quit your job, right? If you donโt want to go back to Nareigh, just come and work at Apex Group. Iโll arrange an easy job for you.โ
Teresa shook her head. โIโll handle my own job search. Thanks.โ
Jonathan stared at her, clearly confused. โArenโt the Teresouth Group dividends enough for you? Why bother taking a teaching job?โ
Teresaโs eyes flickered. To be honest, it was simply because Michaelโs kindergarten was close by, and she wanted to find something to do to keep her son from getting bored.
All she said was, โI just happen to have a teaching license. It would be a shame to let it go to waste.โ
