Chapter 1077
Teresa thought, "How could this have happened? Why is his life so difficult? He just found his family and was finally on the verge of having a happy life."
By the time Teresa arrived at the hospital, Lucas was already on a ventilator and being wheeled into the operating room.
"Lucas," Yalena was by Lucas's side, holding his hand and crying her heart out.
Teresa thought she must be seeing things. She couldn't believe that the person staying beside Lucas was Yalena, the very woman who had caused her premature labor and almost ruined her family.
"Lucas, you'll be fine." Yalena's tears fell onto Lucas's face.
Teresa stood frozen until Lucas was pushed inside the operating room.
She grabbed Yalena as Yalena tried to follow and said, "What are you doing? Can't you keep away from Lucas?"
Yalena finally realized it was Teresa. She impatiently shook off Teresa's hand and shouted at her, "This is all your fault! How was I supposed to know you let Lucas drive your car? I told them to hit you, not Lucas!"
Teresa's eyes went wide. She asked, "What did you say? You wanted me dead, and Lucas ended up taking the hit for me?"
"I don't know. I don't want Lucas to die!" Yalena clutched her head in complete despair. She began banging her head against the wall, her hands still stained with Lucas's blood.
Someone's footsteps were getting closer behind them.
Eason showed up as well.
Eason rushed to the hospital after receiving a call from the driver. He had thought something had happened to Yalena. Upon arriving at the hospital, he realized that it was Lucas who was in trouble.
Yalena didn't even register Eason's arrival. She was completely falling apart, sobbing uncontrollably.
She kept muttering and desperately praying that Lucas would be safe and sound.
"Stop acting so fake. I'll take care of Lucas here. You don't need to be here," Teresa snapped.
She thought, "What does Yalena think about? Lucas's accident is because of her. Why is she still there and crying?"
"I truly love Lucasโฆ I want to marry him. I want to protect him." Yalena broke down, sobbing as she sank to the floor.
"Lucas saved my life. He's my redemption. How could I ever bear hurting him?" Yalena cried.
Teresa was becoming increasingly puzzled by Yalena's words. She didn't know what Yalena was talking about.
Chapter 1077
Suddenly, the door to the operating room opened.
"The patient is losing a great deal of blood and requires an emergency transfusion! Does anyone here have blood type A?" the doctor called out, his voice urgent as he scanned around.
Earlier, a newly delivered woman suffered a massive hemorrhage, and now the blood bank was almost empty.
Teresa frowned. She had B blood type, so she couldn't donate blood to Lucas. Even if she and Lucas had the same blood type, she still couldn't help because direct relatives were not allowed to donate blood to each other.
"I have A blood type. Draw my blood!" Yalena offered her arm.
"Come with me for a quick test," the nurse said.
Yalena followed the nurse downstairs.
Eason, who had been standing behind them, was stunned upon hearing Yalena's words. He had B blood type, while Katrina had O blood type. He wondered, "How could Yalena have A blood type?" Still in a state of shock, he headed downstairs.
The nurse was drawing Yalena's blood. Eason waited outside the door. He didn't go in until Yalena left the room. He picked up the test report from the table and examined it carefully.
The nurse was puzzled and asked, "Sir, what are you doing?"
Eason pointed at the report and asked, "Is that girl from earlier really A blood type?"
"Yes, she is. Her blood type matches the patient's, and the test confirmed that she can donate blood to the patient," the nurse replied.
Eason was stunned once again. He thought, "It's impossible! How could Yalena possibly have type A blood? If Yalena has type A blood, then she's not my daughter. She's not Yalena."
"But I had conducted a DNA test before, and the results clearly showed that Yalena is my biological daughter. Where did things go wrong?"
"Sir, do you have any other questions?" the nurse asked.
Eason put down the test report and said, "Give me the needle you used to draw blood earlier."
"I'm sorry, sir. These are single-use items. What do you need it for?" the nurse asked.
"That's fine. I'll talk to Vincent myself," Eason said, turning to leave. He had a pissed-off look on his face.
The red light in the operating room was still on.
The sun was rising, rapidly illuminating the sky. It seemed to be shaping up as a warm and sunny day.
Today was Teresa's birthday. She made a wish to the sky that Lucas would be safe. She couldn't even bear to think about what would happen to her already-broken family if something bad were to happen to Lucas.
Chapter 1077
Yalena, who had just had her blood drawn, turned pale. She stood stubbornly outside the operating room, refusing to leave.
Teresa was a bit angry and said, "Why are you still here? Haven't you hurt him enough? You kidnapped him, had people beat him up, and caused him to have a car accident."
"You still claim you love him? Is constantly hurting him your idea of love? What exactly do you want from my family?"
Yalena lowered her head and said, "I won't let anything happen to Lucas. It was my fault this time."
After spending half a month in detention, Yalena held a serious grudge against Teresa. She told her men to damage Teresa's car if they saw Teresa driving alone.
When her men informed her that they had hit the wrong person last time, she didn't give it much thought. She told them to wait for another chance to teach Teresa a lesson.
She had no idea Lucas would be the one driving this time. She didn't know Teresa had lent Lucas her car.
Completely breaking down, Yalena shouted at Teresa, "It's all your fault! You're to blame for everything!"
Teresa was a bit annoyed and thought Yalena was crazy. She said, "You hired someone to crash my car. Do you think you can get away with that? If anything happens to Lucas, you'll get the death penalty. This is premeditated murder."
Yalena suddenly burst out laughing. "I'm not afraid of dying as long as Lucas is safe. If he dies, I'll die with him."
Right after Yalena finished speaking, the nurse came out of the operating room, her hands full of blood-soaked gauze.
Yalena immediately clung to the nurse's leg and asked, "Is this enough? Take more of my blood. I'm okay. Just take as much as you need!"
"No, you've already drawn a whole liter. The blood bank has sent more. You don't have to worry anymore," the nurse reassured Yalena.
As the nurse hurried away, Teresa stared intently at Yalena. Seeing Yalena in such a state of extreme loss of control, Teresa felt truly confused for a moment. She thought, "Did Yalena really fall in love with Lucas?"
