Chapter 481

Lemira had braced herself for countless unexpected scenarios, but never in her wildest dreams had she imagined reporters abruptly walking out on her. This was a shocker. Glancing at TG Groupโ€™s PR Team, she saw Debby intercepting the last reporter: โ€œCan I ask why everyone suddenly left?โ€

โ€œMs. Lemira, I apologize, itโ€™s not that I want to be rude, but my boss called and urgently demanded my return.โ€

โ€œCan you share whoโ€™s behind this?โ€

The reporter hesitated before answering, โ€œItโ€™s odd to me too. Let me find out and Iโ€™ll get back to you.โ€

And with that, the last reporter departed.

Collapsing into her chair, Lemira turned to Debby, โ€œSomeoneโ€™s orchestrating this, but the Langstons out in Orvin shouldnโ€™t know about it. Who has the clout to make all media outlets leave simultaneously?โ€

She couldnโ€™t believe the Langstons wielded such power in Orvin! There had to be another explanation.

Debby pondered for a moment, โ€œWell, there is one person who could: the News Queen of the Waverlies. Got any beef with the Waverlies?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t even know them, let alone have any issues.โ€

Even in her past life, she had no ties to these people.

โ€œThatโ€™s curious. But Ms. Langston, donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll dig into this right away.โ€

โ€œThanks, Debby.โ€

No sooner had Lemira finished her sentence than she saw Asher marching over with a posse. Seeing Asher, she had an inkling. But when did the Langstons get such pull? Something was off.

Asher made his way to Lemira, grabbed the mic after sitting down, and greeted, โ€œHello, everyone.โ€

Lemira turned to Asher, โ€œDid you engineer this?โ€

โ€œLemira, youโ€™ve truly disappointed me. Hosting a press conference to reveal your ordeal with Caspian? Sadly, you wonโ€™t get that chance.โ€

He proceeded to burn Lemiraโ€™s prepared speech. Gazing at her, he warned, โ€œIโ€™ve told you, family matters shouldnโ€™t be aired in public, but you never listen.โ€

Lemira, looking at her destroyed speech, โ€œIโ€™m surprised. Didnโ€™t realize the Langstons had such sway in Orvin.โ€

Asher dropped the mic, his tone menacing, โ€œLemira, forget about going public in the future. No one will believe you, just like your press conference todayโ€”nobody came.โ€

Evelina, feigning concern, chimed in, โ€œLemmy, why antagonize our family? What good does ruining Caspian do for you?โ€

โ€œShut up, youโ€™re the root of this.โ€

Lemira had meticulously planned todayโ€™s event, only to see it derailed. This was her first real taste of the sheer power of influence. Evelina reluctantly clammed up.

Asher, visibly upset, added, โ€œLemira, Eveโ€™s not entirely wrong. Weโ€™ve been building these connections to uncover the truth behind our parentsโ€™ demise. Now, itโ€™s all disrupted because of you. Still think youโ€™re in the right?โ€

Evelinaโ€™s complexion changed in an instant. What was Asher implying? Was he still probing into the accident? Could it be that Asher also doubted the accidentโ€™s narrative, or suspected their father wasnโ€™t dead?

In her past life, Lemira recalled, Asher never did uncover the truth. So, Asher was pinning this on her, using their parents as leverage.

Lemira, eyeing Evelina, retorted, โ€œMr. Asher, by saying this, are you implying thereโ€™s something fishy about the accident? Does that make Evelinaโ€™s father a suspect?โ€
