Chapter 411
Lemira stared into those handsome features before her, disbelief coloring her expression. She knew all too well how much Caspian reveled in playing rolesโwhether on the job or in real life.
Caspian, with a smile playing on his lips, whispered, โHeard your teamโs looking for sponsors. Iโm here to help. Just play along, will you?โ
But Lemira was far from willing to comply. Yet, as Caspian firmly grabbed her shoulder, feigning intimacy as they walked in together, she realized he had orchestrated everything, including the media ready to snap their photos.
Under different circumstances, she wouldnโt have played along. But this was the teamโs home base. Causing a scene here would only bring negative attention to the team. After all, Caspian was a celebrity, having adopted a stage name early in his career without ever revealing his familyโs identity.
What was he up to now? Lemira couldnโt quite figure it out.
To the cameras, Caspian said, โEveryoneโs curious about the bruise on my face, right? My sister gave it to me. Weโve been sparring recently, and sheโs improved a lot. I, her big brother, canโt even beat her now.โ
Outside, Caspian was the epitome of a caring older brother. Sure enough, fans started commenting on how lucky she was to have such a wonderful brother.
Lemiraโs face fell. Suddenly, a voice directed at Lemira said, โYour brotherโs going out of his way to boost your popularity and secure sponsorships, and youโre here sulking?โ
Lemira looked up to see Susanna and Evelina standing among the fans. The young Sinclair girl was a fan of Caspian?
Evelina added, โCome on, Lemmy, crack a smile. Anyone would think youโre unhappy with Caspian.โ
Lemira clenched her fists, irritated. Caspian leaned in, his voice low, โJust go along with it, okay? Itโs for your own good.โ
But she never asked for any of this!
Chapter 412
Itโs always the same with them, compensating based on what they thought was best.
โWhy should Lemira cooperate with a family that treats her poorly? Sheโs already cut ties with them, as everyone knows,โ a girl in a baseball cap stepped forward.
It was Jessica, her former class president, causing Lemiraโs eyes to unexpectedly well up with tears. Evelina was surprised to encounter an old classmate.
Caspianโs gaze hardened, though his expression remained unchanged. โI only learned about my sisterโs falling out with our family recently. Regardless, sheโll always be my sister, irreplaceable to me.โ
Pointing at Evelina, Jessica said, โAnd what about her? You treated your adopted sister better than Lemira.โ
Evelinaโs cheeks flushed with anger at the mention of her adoption, a topic she loathed.
Evelina retorted, her eyes reddening, โWe were all in the same class. Youโve always been close to Lemira, but that doesnโt give you the right to make baseless accusations. Our brothers treated us equally and fairly.โ
โThe so-called fairness that meant when both of you were sick, Lemira had to run errands. Despite Lemira being the top student, she had to give up an opportunity at Orvin University to attend a lesser college with you. I doubt anyone would want that kind of fairness,โ Jessica knew exactly what had happened during those three years in high school.
The crowd erupted into murmurs. Even the reporters were shocked, unaware of such details.
Caspianโs face darkened as he whispered to Lemira, โYour friend is quite loyal, but she shouldnโt have said all this in public. Should I teach her a lesson?โ
โYou better not hurt her,โ Lemira warned, aware of Caspianโs methods.
Caspianโs smile broadened. โThen you better explain yourself, or your friend here is going to face some trouble.โ Lemira gritted her teeth, her gaze shifting towards Jessica across the way.
