Chapter 365

Lucian couldnโ€™t believe Lemira was actually going through with the lawsuit. Lemira just laughed it off. โ€œIf you do something wrong, youโ€™ve got to face the consequences. Itโ€™s not like I forced Evelina to steal from me.โ€

Lucian grimaced. โ€œEven if you wanted to sue, you guys canโ€™t even afford a decent lawyer. Why embarrass yourselves?โ€

Orion spoke up, ice in his tone. โ€œWeโ€™ll see when we get to court.โ€ He had hired a lawyer himself, sure of a win.

After saying this, Orion grabbed Lemiraโ€™s hand. โ€œIโ€™m starved, and you still owe me a dinner!โ€ Lemira didnโ€™t argue and walked away with him. Lucian didnโ€™t follow. Only then did Lemira ask Orion, โ€œWhen did I owe you a dinner?โ€

โ€œRemember the car accident last time?โ€

Lemira remembered. Orion had almost been hurt because of her, and she had promised to treat him to a meal once he was better. โ€œI remember now,โ€ she admitted. โ€œAt least you have some conscience.โ€

Lemira pondered, โ€œSo, what do you want to eat?โ€

Orion looked at her intensely. โ€œYouโ€™ll agree to anything I choose?โ€ She felt his gaze was different but dismissed it as her imagination; this man was always good at hiding his true feelings.

Lemira shrugged. โ€œIโ€™m kinda broke right now, nothing too expensive.โ€

โ€œWhat do you usually like?โ€

โ€œI heard thereโ€™s a new bistro near the campus, supposed to be good. Wanna try?โ€

Orion, ever so dignified, nodded. โ€œBut I want a private booth.โ€

Typical, always with the extra requests. However, the man did like his peace and was a bit of a germophobe. Lemira called ahead to reserve a private booth, and they set off, walking side-by-side but maintaining a distance.

After following the GPS for a while, Lemira realized they were going the wrong way. She stopped to check the map. Orion came closer. โ€œLost, little turtle?โ€

โ€œThis GPS is off.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s you who canโ€™t follow directions. Give it here.โ€

Taking her phone, he glanced around and then put the GPS away. โ€œFollow me.โ€

โ€œYou sure you remember the way without the GPS?โ€

โ€œRemembering a route is easy. Just follow me, lost lamb.โ€

Lemira poked his side playfully. โ€œStop with the weird nicknames.โ€

โ€œSlow turtle, lost lamb.โ€ He inhaled sharply, his gaze turning serious. โ€œDonโ€™t just touch a manโ€™s waist.โ€

โ€œWhat, are you ticklish?โ€

She poked him again, but this time Orion caught her hand. โ€œKeep touching, and youโ€™ll have to take responsibility.โ€

She met his deep gaze and quickly looked away. โ€œI didnโ€™t really touch, just poked.โ€ Her voice trailed off.

Orion let go of her hand and continued walking, though not as composed as before. Following him, they soon reached the bistro and entered the private booth.

The owner came in to take their order. โ€œWeโ€™re a bit busy today, so sorry for any inconvenience. What would you like?โ€

Orion sat down without taking the menu, leaving the choice to Lemira. The owner handed the menu to Lemira. โ€œYour boyfriend is so considerate, letting the lady choose. Iโ€™m all over the place today.โ€

Lemira took the menu without explaining and looked at Orion. โ€œWhat do you feel like?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll have whatever youโ€™re having.โ€

Knowing his preferences, Lemira ordered a few dishes, including the house specials. The booth fell silent. While scrolling through her phone, Lemira felt Orionโ€™s gaze on her, impossible to ignore. She looked up to meet his eyes. Neither spoke. He remained silent, watching her use her utensils, the silence between them speaking volumes.
