Chapter 346

โ€œAsher, just hear me out, will you? Arenโ€™t you always the epitome of fairness and justice? As the head of the Langston family, isnโ€™t it your duty to step forward and take responsibility for all of this?โ€

Lemiraโ€™s tone was somber as she locked eyes with Asher. โ€œAfter all, youโ€™re all bound by blood thicker than water. How can you bear to watch your siblings turn against each other and even end up behind bars? Asher, youโ€™re being too selfish.โ€

โ€œCut the act of playing the good guy. Youโ€™re part of this too.โ€

Asherโ€™s face turned a shade of green. He had never thought heโ€™d need to shoulder the blame.

Silence fell over the room.

Lemiraโ€™s voice, hoarse from talking, clutching a trophy in her hands, declared, โ€œCome on, speak up, everyone. Isnโ€™t this what youโ€™ve always taught me? Why is it that when itโ€™s your turn, youโ€™re unwilling? Youโ€™re being too selfish!โ€

In her past life, they had morally grounded her with eloquence. They might as well have carved the words โ€˜blood is thicker than waterโ€™ onto her face. Now, when itโ€™s their turn, they couldnโ€™t do it? Hypocrites!

A cold light danced in Lemiraโ€™s eyes as she was determined to unveil their true faces today!

Evelina turned pale upon hearing this. Lemira, that wretch! She knew she was up to no good, waiting for an opportunity like this. That wretch aimed to use this incident to drive a wedge between her and her brothers.

Tears tinged Evelinaโ€™s voice as she looked at Asher. โ€œAsher, this mess is my own doing; Iโ€™ll bear the consequences. Donโ€™t let yourself or Alaric take the fall for me.โ€

If she didnโ€™t do something, it would all be over. Lemiraโ€™s tactic of sowing discord was too cruel.

Asherโ€™s expression darkened, not expecting Lemira to drag him into this. He hesitated before saying, โ€œEve, donโ€™t worry about it, itโ€™s not your fault.โ€

Lemira quickly retorted with a smirk, โ€œSee, Asher is comforting you like this; clearly, heโ€™s ready to take the fall for you.โ€

โ€œLemira, when did I ever say that?โ€ Panic laced Asherโ€™s voice.

Lemira feigned surprise. โ€œAs the elder brother, if not now, then when will you stand up?โ€

โ€œBut if I end up behind bars, who will run the Langston Group? My entire career would be ruined.โ€

โ€œAsher, youโ€™re only ruining your career, but for Evelina, a girl, itโ€™s her entire reputation at stake. How can she ever marry in the future?โ€

Asher was visibly shaken. โ€œBut if the company goes bankrupt, how are we supposed to make a living?โ€

โ€œHey, worst-case scenario, weโ€™re broke and begging on the streets, but thatโ€™s still better than being a selfish person. Evelinaโ€™s father has been good to the Langston family; you surely canโ€™t let her face jail time!โ€

Asher was fuming, yet he found himself unable to refute her words. Because he had said the same to Lemira before.

Reluctantly, Asher said, โ€œLemira, you keep mentioning โ€˜family.โ€™ Why donโ€™t you drop the lawsuit then?โ€

โ€œWe might be bound by blood, but Iโ€™ve cut ties, so clearly, Iโ€™m no longer part of this family, am I? So, Mr. Asher, are you unwilling to bear the consequences for Evelina?โ€

โ€œLemira, is what youโ€™re saying even reasonable?โ€

Lemira kicked over a trash can, her gaze icy. Her tone was laced with sarcasm, โ€œSo you know those words arenโ€™t exactly easy to hear.โ€

Then what were you spewing all those days! Asher suddenly lowered his gaze, unable to meet Lemiraโ€™s eyes.

Chapter 246

Lemira advanced, pressing, โ€œCome on, speak up. The great Mr. Asher, always priding yourself as the head of the family, always strong on about how blood is thicker than water, why are you silent now?โ€

She grabbed the collar of Asherโ€™s shirt. Her voice was venomous, โ€œCat got your tongue, or are you at a loss for words?โ€

Go on, speak!
