Chapter 324

โ€œItโ€™s not me, Asher, I swear! It has nothing to do with me!โ€

โ€œBut it was you two who came together earlier. Yeah, it was Eve doing all the talking, but you knew all about it and you were in on it too. And now that itโ€™s all coming out, youโ€™re saying itโ€™s got nothing to do with you?โ€

Hearing Asherโ€™s words made Alaric feel like he was about to lose it. He really hadnโ€™t done anything; it was all Evelinaโ€™s idea!

Alaric turned to Evelina: โ€œYou tell him. Tell Asher whether it was all you. I even tried to stop you!โ€

Evelina bit her lip, replying in a soft voice, โ€œYes, youโ€™re right, Asher. Itโ€™s all me.โ€

Asher pulled Evelina closer: โ€œAlright, donโ€™t be scared of Alaric. Iโ€™ve got your back. You donโ€™t have to take all the blame by yourself.โ€

Lina nodded obediently: โ€œIf Lemira insists on pursuing this, then let her come after me. Donโ€™t let it affect Alaricโ€™s future.โ€

โ€œEvelina, what are you talking about?โ€

Alaric couldnโ€™t believe what he was hearing. This whole mess had nothing to do with him! But in Asherโ€™s eyes, he was a co-conspirator too!

Lemira walked over with a smile: โ€œSo, have you figured out how to fix it? Everyoneโ€™s waiting.โ€

Asher, with a stern face, lowered his voice: โ€œLemira, I didnโ€™t expect you to play dirty.โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t that what you taught me? Iโ€™m a quick learner, arenโ€™t I?โ€

Lemiraโ€™s smile was unwavering: โ€œMr. Langston, better think about how youโ€™re gonna solve this. Iโ€™d love to learn from it too. Though, I doubt Iโ€™ll ever need it!โ€

โ€œYou!โ€

Asher was fuming. Evelina hid behind Asher, too scared to speak, let alone face Lemira.

Asher, swallowing his anger: โ€œWhat do you want, Lemira?โ€

โ€œWell, you were the one who said we should let the lawyers sort it out to the fullest extent, right? Iโ€™m just following your lead. Letโ€™s let the lawyers handle it!โ€

Lemiraโ€™s tone was calm, her gaze steady.

Asher, through gritted teeth: โ€œIโ€™ll give you $5 as compensation, and weโ€™ll call it even.โ€

โ€œToo bad. I think having you lose the bidding opportunity is a much better deal.โ€

โ€œLemira, donโ€™t push it!โ€

Lemira covered her mouth, raising her voice deliberately: โ€œMe, pushing it? Iโ€™m just following the rules. Howโ€™s that going too far?โ€

โ€œLemira, Eve and Alaric didnโ€™t mean it, they just got careless. You canโ€™t seriously be considering holding them responsible over such a small mistake?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re saying they โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ sat in front of my computer, โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ went through my designs page by page, โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ took detailed pictures, and then โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ found you to hand over my ideas, which you โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ integrated into your PowerPoint presentation to โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ showcase? That kind of careless?โ€

Lemiraโ€™s voice was icy: โ€œOr maybe you think they just โ€˜accidentallyโ€™ got caught, with irrefutable evidence, facing these consequences?โ€

Asher was so angry, he could explode! But he had no comeback.

โ€œLemira, why do you have to be so infuriating? Iโ€™ve been working abroad for years, and I had no idea you turned out like this.โ€

Asher still remembered Lemira as a sweet and obedient little sister. Lemiraโ€™s tone was indifferent, with a hint of authority. Thatโ€™s when Asher realized Lemira was no longer the timid and shy sister from before.

Asher softened his tone: โ€œWhat do you want, just so you wonโ€™t pursue this? Lemira, despite everything, weโ€™re still family. Canโ€™t we talk it out?โ€

Lemiraโ€™s smile was laced with irony. Now they were family?

Her voice was hollow: โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to discuss!โ€

She knew Asherโ€™s tricks all too well. Such incidents had happened countless times before!

Lemira turned to the director: โ€œI demand that the Langston Groupโ€™s bidding rights be revoked!โ€

โ€œLemira, you wouldnโ€™t dare!โ€
