Chapter 314

Lucian felt a knot in his stomach, listening to Lemiraโ€™s sharp retort; he was lost for words. Evelina seized the moment. โ€œLemira, Lucian meant well. Why embarrass him in front of everyone? You have no idea how lucky I think you are.โ€

A senior student by Lemiraโ€™s side sneered, โ€œEvelina, youโ€™re just a driverโ€™s daughter, and yet here you are, attending a prestigious business school. Whose spot did you take, huh?โ€

โ€œYeah, for a driverโ€™s daughter to get here, shows how biased things are.โ€

โ€œNo wonder Goddess Lemon cut ties with her family. If I were in her shoes, Iโ€™d do the same!โ€

Evelina was left speechless and looked towards Lucian for support. โ€œLucian, I didnโ€™t mean to. I was just trying to calm Lemira down!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t need your so-called help, zip it!โ€

This time, Lucian didnโ€™t fall for Evelinaโ€™s trick. โ€œIf Lemira doesnโ€™t respect me, thatโ€™s on me, no one elseโ€™s fault.โ€

Evelina was dumbfounded by Lucianโ€™s reaction. Weird; her words used to work on him before. Did Lucian genuinely not hold any grudges against Lemira for her blatant disrespect?

As Lucian walked away, Evelina followed, her heart racing, leaving Susanna standing alone on stage. Lemira gave Susanna a look that had her running for the hills, afraid of becoming Lemiraโ€™s next target.

The senior student by Lemira said, โ€œDespite the drama, letโ€™s proceed with the voting.โ€ Lemira won the captaincy by a landslide, surrounded by celebrations; her popularity was undeniable. But soon, the Sinclair familyโ€™s representatives came looking for her.

In the captainโ€™s office, Lemira saw a bespectacled lawyer and Susanna waiting. Susanna smugly said, โ€œLemira, meet my lawyer. Youโ€™re done for now; itโ€™s your turn to go to jail.โ€

The lawyer adjusted his glasses. โ€œMs. Langston, we finally meet. Weโ€™ve spoken on the phone before.โ€

โ€œOh, you.โ€

Lemira pulled out her phone. โ€œThese are the videos from the last time in the restroom. Susanna didnโ€™t tell you, did she?โ€

Susanna looked guilty; she had indeed kept it a secret, fearing reproach. Her mother had instructed her to keep a low profile and avoid further scandals.

After viewing the videos, the lawyerโ€™s expression changed. He stepped outside to call Mrs. Amelia. Susanna received a scolding from her mother like never before.

The lawyer faced Lemira. โ€œHow do you propose we resolve it?โ€

โ€œSimple. Susanna apologizes, and I delete the videos.โ€

โ€œNever! Iโ€™d rather die than apologize to you!โ€

Susanna stormed out, leaving Lemira and the lawyer alone. Lemira, with a half-smile, told the lawyer, โ€œYou have a day to think it over. Iโ€™m pretty reasonable.โ€

โ€œMs. Langston, Iโ€™ll have to report back, but if you insist on opposing the Sinclair family, weโ€™ll withdraw our teamโ€™s funding. Consider your options carefully.โ€

After the lawyer left, Lemira knew this was a problem she needed to solve. The only company she knew that could sponsor them was Maple Group.

After some thought, Lemira texted Thaddeus: [Mr. Draven, fancy grabbing dinner sometime?]

Thaddeus was taken aback by the message. He looked up at Orion. โ€œHave you been in touch with Lemon lately?โ€

Orion, previously engrossed in his documents, looked solemn. โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œBut she just asked me to dinner!โ€
