Chapter 214ย  Asherโ€™s eyes were a fiery red, โ€œIf only we knew what Lemira would turn into, Eveโ€™s dad should have saved our parents first, not her!โ€ The scene of the accident years ago seemed to flash through Lemiraโ€™s mind. She could barely stand, leaning heavily against the door frame, the details of that day eluding her. Her heart felt like it was in a vice, making it hard to breathe.ย  In a fit of anger, Asher threw off his jacket, โ€œLemira, you always think we favor Evelina, but we took her in for you, to make up for what happened. You not only caused our parentsโ€˜ death but also Evelinaโ€™s dadโ€™s. If you want to leave, then so be it!โ€ย  With those words, Asher turned and left via the elevator.ย  โ€œAsher, come back!โ€ Lucian was both anxious and angry, turning to Lemira, โ€œLemmy, Asherโ€™s just blowing steam, donโ€™t take it to heart.โ€ Lemira was visibly shaken. Orion stepped forward, supporting her on the shoulder, his gaze filled with concern, โ€œYou okay?โ€ Demira shook her head, her voice hoarse as she asked Lucian, โ€œI canโ€™t remember what happened that day of the crash. Did I really causeย  parentsโ€˜ death?โ€ย  โ€œNo, it wasnโ€™t your fault. It was an accident, the other driver ran a red light and hit our parentsโ€˜ car. Theyโ€™re the real criminal!โ€ Orionโ€™s pupils constricted at the mention of the criminal, a sharp pain spreading from his gaze.ย  Lemira was skeptical, โ€œBut Asher didnโ€™t make it sound that way.โ€ย  โ€œAsher was just venting, you know how he is.โ€ย  Orion saw Lemiraโ€™s distress, โ€œHe made it clear, it wasnโ€™t your fault.โ€ย  Wiping away her tears, Lemira looked at Lucian, โ€˜Go. From now on, I have nothing to do with the Langston familyโ€ย  โ€œLemmy, listen to me.โ€ย  Orion interrupted Lucian, โ€˜After everything, do you really think you or anyone from the Langston family deserves her forgiveness? A simple apology can erase the hurt youโ€™ve caused each time?โ€ย  Lucianโ€™s eyes reddened, โ€œI truly regret it.โ€ย  He had tried to stop Asher and even Alaricย  โ€œIf you really care about Lemira, then stop disturbing her.โ€ย  Orion pushed Lucian out and shut the door firmly.ย  Lucian, left outside, felt a sharp pain in his stomach, but it was nothing compared to his heartache.ย  Then, Alaric came running from the elevator, โ€œLucian, I saw Asher storm off. Heโ€™s headed back to Orvin, something about a company crisis. Howโ€™s Lemira? Is she okay?โ€ย  Lucian, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth, brushed it off, โ€œSheโ€™s fine. Letโ€™s go.โ€ย  โ€œLucian, didnโ€™t you say youโ€™d do anything to win her back?โ€ย  โ€œMaybe staying away from her is for the best. Weโ€™re the ones to blame, not her We shouldnโ€™t disturb her new life.โ€ย  Lucian hit himself on the head in frustration, โ€œIf only there were a pill for regret. I will never let this happen.โ€ย  Inside her apartment, Lemira sat on the couch, reading about the Langston Groupโ€™s internal system hack making headlines again. Asher was probably on his way back to Orvin by now. She let out a sigh of relief. โ€œThis severs all ties. Asher wonโ€™t bother me anymore.โ€ At least until he managed to replace the source code she wrote, he wouldnโ€™t dare make a move. She had almost forgotten about the source code, never intending to use it as leverage. They had forced her hand.ย  Orionโ€™s gaze was profound, โ€œDonโ€™t take what Asher said about your parents to heartโ€ย  Lemira managed a bitter smile, โ€œSometimes, I wish I had been the one to die. If only Evelinaโ€™s dad had saved my parents first.โ€ Then she wouldnโ€™t have to live with this guiltย  Onorโ€™s gaze flickered, โ€œBut your parents chose to save you firstโ€ย
