Chapter 204

โ€œShouldnโ€™t you discuss this with Lemira first?โ€

โ€œWhy would I need to?โ€

Alaric felt a twinge of unease but remained silent. He sighed and said, โ€œWith Eveโ€™s grades, it looks like sheโ€™ll only be able to attend a local college.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s perfect; they can look out for each other. Marrying into a local wealthy family wouldnโ€™t be so bad.โ€ Asher believed excessive ambition wasn't necessary for girls; early marriage was also acceptable.

When Lemira returned to her apartment, she said with apprehension, โ€œI think I should find a new place to live.โ€

โ€œWorried Asher will cause trouble?โ€ Orion understood her previous mention of moving.

Lemira nodded. โ€œYeah, Asherโ€™s stubborn and ignores everyoneโ€™s opinions.โ€

Thaddeus arrived then. โ€œLemon, you might as well go to Orvin. With your grades, getting into Orvin University shouldnโ€™t be a problem. Itโ€™s best to get settled there sooner rather than later.โ€ Asher wouldnโ€™t be able to reach her there.

Lemira loved the suggestion, instinctively looking at Orion for his opinion.

Orionโ€™s expression was calm. โ€œThat sounds like a good plan.โ€ Once at Orvin, sheโ€™d be beyond the Langstonsโ€™ reach.

Lemira smiled, pressing her lips together. โ€œThen itโ€™s settled. Iโ€™m moving to Orvin!โ€

A sudden thought struck her, and she looked at Orion again. โ€œBut then, we wonโ€™t see each other often.โ€

Orion avoided her gaze. โ€œKid, focus on your studies.โ€

Lemira felt disheartened and looked away.

Thaddeus attempted to lighten the mood. โ€œAll good things must end. I hope, Lemon, youโ€™ll have a wonderful life at Orvin, free from the Langstonsโ€™ shadow.โ€

Lemira managed a smile. โ€œYouโ€™re right.โ€ After all, Orion didnโ€™t like her; she shouldnโ€™t harbor any feelings.

Feeling down, Lemira said, โ€œIโ€™ll start planning now.โ€ She practically fled.

After Lemira left, silence fell over the room.

Thaddeus looked at Orion meaningfully. โ€œHaving second thoughts?โ€

โ€œHer going to Orvin means sheโ€™s finally free of the Langston family. No second thoughts; Iโ€™m happy for her!โ€

โ€œGood. Use this chance to say a proper goodbye to Lemon. The closer you two become now, the more painful it will be later.โ€

Orion felt irritable. โ€œI donโ€™t need reminding.โ€

Thaddeus watched his back, remembering Orionโ€™s frantic rush to the hospital when he heard Lemira was there. When had they ever seen Orion lose control like that?

Lemira barely slept that night. Though thrilled about Orvin and escaping the Langstons, the thought of rarely seeing Orion left her feeling lost.

The next morning, a call from her teacher jolted her awake.

โ€œLemira, why did you decline Orvin Universityโ€™s admission offer? Your grades easily qualify you for their top programs!โ€

โ€œWhat? I didnโ€™t decline. I never received a call from the admissions office.โ€

Startled, Lemira was instantly alert. Orvin University was her dream! How could she have rejected it?
