Chapter 179ย  Lemira caught a glimpse of a reporter interviewing Lucian, a sly twinkle in her eye.ย  Lucian, taken aback by the reporterโ€™s questions, stood frozen. The words seemed to jumble in his head, making no sense at all.ย  What did they mean by asking if they had any tips to share about Lemiaโ€™s improved grades? Lemira had moved out well before the exams, hardly ever returning home.ย  Moreover, her sudden academic success had nothing to do with her family.ย  In fact, at that time, Alaric had insisted Lemira take time off for eโ€“sports training, as Evelina had suffered academically due to her gaming pursuits.ย  All things considered, they hadnโ€™t contributed at all to Lemira becoming the topโ€“scorer.ย  Uanything, they had held her back.ย  hadnโ€™t decided to move out and skip the eโ€“sports training, her chances of topping the class would have been slim.ย  Realization dawned on Lucian as he looked towards Lemira unwittingly. She had said those things on purpose.ย  it was a deliberate jab at all the Langstons. She knew they had no face to claim her victory as their own.ย  Lemiraโ€™s words hit Lucian hard, filling him with shame for not being a better brother.ย  Lucianโ€™s face betrayed his discomfort. He replied with a husky voice, โ€œActually, we didnโ€™t do much. It was all down to my sister. Sheโ€™s naturally smart, hardworking, and dedicated.โ€ย  The reporter seemed a bit disappointed with the answer.ย  The teacher, knowing a bit more about the situation, guessed Lemira was being sarcastic about her family by making those remarks.ย  The principal approached, congratulating Lucian, โ€œKudos, Mr. Langston, your family has produced a top scorer.โ€ย  Lucian couldnโ€™t muster a smile, feeling utterly out of place.ย  Lemiraโ€™s achievement was not his doing. The congratulatory words made him feel even more like a fishbone was stuck in his throat.ย  He dared not look at Lemira, especially after what he had just said.ย  The teacher quickly changed the subject, โ€œLetโ€™s not dwell on this. How about we all head to the restaurant for a meal?โ€ย  Lemira hung back, gazing at Lucian, โ€œYou should go.โ€ย  โ€œLerpmy!โ€ย  Lucian watched Lemiraโ€™s retreating figure with mixed emotions, unable to speak as freely as before.ย  As Lemira got into the car, she noticed Lucianโ€™s silhouette by the roadside, pondering the principalโ€™s curious congratulations.ย  Soon, everyone reached a nearby restaurant.ย  Lucian followed in his car, unable to miss it. However, as he was getting out, Alaric called him, โ€œLucian, whatโ€™s going on? Eveโ€™s already at the hospital. Why havenโ€™t you brought Lemira yet?โ€ย  Lucian took a deep breath, โ€œWeโ€™ll probably head over after lunch.โ€ย  โ€œWhatโ€™s more important than sorting out the Dravensโ€˜ issue right now? Dorianโ€™s grades are a mess, and Mrs. Grace Draven has been calling nonโ€“stop. Dorianโ€™s even been ignoring her video calls, knowing if she sees him in the hospital, all our efforts would be wasted.โ€ Lucianโ€™s voice trembled, โ€œThis is Lemmyโ€™s celebration party. I canโ€™t leave.โ€ย  He might not have contributed to Lemiraโ€™s success, but as her brother, he needed to be there for her party.ย  โ€œA celebration party? For what, Lemira topping the city? Stop joking around. She didnโ€™t even do that well, did she? Come back quickly. Itโ€™s more urgent to deal with the Dravensโ€˜ matter. Iโ€™ve been buttering up Mr. Draven since last night, trying to keep things smooth. Do you think thatโ€™s easy?โ€ย  โ€œLemmy did top the city. She is the top scorer.โ€ย  โ€œWhat?โ€ย  Alaric nearly lost his footing at the news, โ€œYou mean Lemira is the cityโ€™s number one? How is that possible? I thought her grade suffered because of a stationery issue?โ€ย
