11:11  Chapter 114  Orion tried to hold back, but eventually, he couldn’t. and kicked out in frustration.  Thaddeus, anticipating his reaction, jumped up and continued, “Didn’t you say that she had someone she liked? Maybe it’s a classmate, and once they get to college, they’ll end up together, all lovey–dovey.”  “Get lost!”  Orion rubbed his temples, feeling an unexplained irritation growing inside him.  Lemira took a taxi to the styling studio.  Soon after, Jessica also got out of the car: “Lemmy, are we sure about this place? Never heard of it.”  t’s a friend’s recommendation, should be good.”  Lemira had invited Jessica along since the invitation allowed for a plus–one, regardless of gender. Entering, Lemira told the receptionist, “I’m here on Thaddeus Draven’s recommendation.”  “Ms. Langston, Mr. Draven already informed us about you. Please, you and your friend come on in.”  Lemira sat down, waiting for her makeover to begin.  Jessica, sitting beside her, said, “Lemira, those trolls online are way out of line, and Evelina even liked their comments. Now everyone thinks you have a sugar daddy. But Lucian is obviously yours. Why won’t they clear the air for you?”  Lemira remained calm: “It doesn’t matter anymore.”  “I used to envy how many brothers you had, but now I see they all favor Evelina. Such brothers are worse than none at all.”  Lemira calmly looked at her reflection, having long stopped caring about that.  This life, she had finally broken free from the Langstons to live on her own.  Hours later, the makeover was complete.  Lemira changed into her dress, looking into the mirror, somewhat unfamiliar.  Jessica took out her phone and snapped several photos: “Lemira, you actually clean up pretty well. Evelina’s gaslighting is why you always seemed so invisible before.”  After taking several selfies with Jessica, Lemira checked the time: “Let’s go.”  They took a taxi to the event, held at a five–star hotel.  Outside, Lemira saw numerous luxury cars and reporters lurking about.  Jessica was a bit nervous: “I’ve never been to anything like this. I’ve only seen it on TV. If it weren’t for you, I’d be here as a staff member helping my brother, never entering through the main door.”  Lemira was somewhat nervous too but tried to sound relaxed: “What’s there to worry about? We’re invited.”  As the girls approached the entrance, Lemira saw a swarm of reporters rushing towards someone.  Jessica curiously looked over: “Which celebrity has arrived that’s got all the reporters running?”  A luxury car stopped by the curb, and Alaric along with Evelina stepped out.  Evelina, in a custom evening gown with an emerald necklace and jade bracelet, looked every inch the heiress.  Lemira recognized the jewelry as the apology gifts she had given Evelina in her previous life, gifts her brothers had given her as a child.  Evelina basked in the adoration of the press, proud of the antique and valuable pieces she adorned.  Lemira walked away, all those possessions now belonged to her.  A reporter asked Alaric: “Mr. Alaric, rumors say that the streamer SweetLemon is your sister Lemira. Is that true?”  Evelina’s smile froze, a clear case of asking the wrong question at the wrong time.
