Kyle was handsome and charismatic, but his simple white shirt, lacking any luxury items like a watch, struck Enzo as too plain. Enzo was particularly bothered by Kyle's closeness to Faith; their intimacy sparked a wave of inexplicable jealousy. Unaware of Enzo's deviousness, Kyle said, "Elisa is certainly courteous. But since you're already here, let's head out."

Chapter 47

"Faith, shall we go?" Kyle asked.

Faith nodded obediently and replied, "Yes, okay."

However, Enzo turned to Kyle and softly asked, "Mr. Archer, would you like me to prepare a gift for you? It won't take much time; I can show you our boutiques, and you can choose whatever you like."

Kyle saw this as an attempt by Enzo to improve his image. Kyle responded, "There's no need. Comfort is what matters. Besides, this shirt is a gift from a friend. It's not cheap and holds a lot of meaning."

While Kyle was being honest, to others it seemed like a plain, at most a few thousand or tens of thousands of dollars, shirt. Enzo immediately realized his misstep. "Mr. Archer, please don't misunderstand. I didn't mean anything by it. If I misspoke, please forgive me."

Escorting Kyle to the banquet was a strict order from Elisa, who had specifically instructed Enzo to treat Kyle with utmost respect. If Kyle became unhappy, Elisa would severely punish Enzo, potentially costing him his succession as head of the Rivas family.

Kyle felt helpless; he hadn't done anything to warrant Enzo's reaction. But Enzo, head bowed, saw it differently. As the eldest son, he'd never had to apologize. He felt only anger and resentment.

"Or pretend I said nothing, and just treat it as a bunch of hot air."

Kyle chuckled. "Mr. Rivas, how about this? Let me give you some advice. You can take it, or—"

"Not at all!" Enzo bowed slightly. "I welcome your advice."

Kyle said, "Mr. Rivas Senior is a good man, which is why I helped him. I don't expect anything in return. It wasn't easy for Ms. Rivas to get where she is today, so let's not overthink things. We should just live and act with integrity."

"I'll leave it at that. Whether you listen or not is up to you."

Kyle smiled. He'd already noticed Enzo's true nature. His advice was a good-natured reminder, but, as he said, it was up to Enzo to heed it.

Although Enzo maintained a respectful demeanor, he felt extremely agitated. Kyle was around his age; what right did he have to lecture him?

"Thank you for your advice, Mr. Archer. I'll keep it in mind," Enzo said.

"It's difficult to be human, and the path isn't easy. What kind of person you become and the road you choose to take, that's your business," Kyle said meaningfully, then took Faith's hand and walked slowly toward the exit.

Enzo exhaled gently and looked at Anthony and Marta. "I'll see you both later."

Anthony nodded and waved back silently, but inwardly he was anxious. He sensed Kyle might have a negative opinion of Enzo, but dared not say anything.

Downstairs, Enzo maintained his respectful attitude and invited Kyle and Faith to ride in the middle stretch limousine. He then changed his mind and chose to sit in the lead limousine.

Once in the car, Enzo's anger erupted. He punched the seat and growled, "Who does that poor, shabby fellow think he is? Does he think that just because he saved Father, and Elisa is grateful to him, he can lecture me?"

Enzo's outburst unnerved the others in the car.

Loira, in the front passenger seat, was equally outraged. "That's right! I saw everything, Mr. Rivas. That Mr. Archer guy was so pretentious. It's ridiculous how highly he thinks of himself."

As Enzo's loyal subordinate, Loira had to support him. Keeping Enzo happy meant keeping his job.

Enzo said coldly, "I don't know where that worthless bastard came from. I thought he was some big shot, but he just happened to save Father. Just wait, he'll get what's coming to him. But let me tell you, we can't show our displeasure, no matter what. Elisa values him highly, so we'll put up with him for now. When he's no longer needed, then he'll know how bad it will get." Enzo's expression hardened.

"But we need to find out what his relationship is with Faith," Enzo said. "I've met Faith before, but I didn't realize how beautiful she was. It was such a surprise today. She's so gorgeous, it's unforgettable!"
