Chapter 732: He Is an Accident in Her Life
Bounty glared warily at Betty. โYou know Olive? Who are you?โ Hatred glinted in her eyes. โI should ask, Naomi, who are you? Did you orchestrate what happened that year? You killed my son and ruined the Augustine family. Why?โ
โNow that youโve reappeared, what are your intentions? Why approach Elvis and Olive?โ
Betty, slightly surprised, took some pills and approached Bounty. โI am, undeniably, the daughter of the Augustine family. Youโve seen through me. Unfortunately, the dead cannot speak; this secret will remain unknown.โ
โDo you think youโll succeed? Olive will return soon. Sheโll expose your wicked schemes with her own hands!โ Bounty retorted angrily.
Betty moved; the bell on her waist chimed. Bountyโs face paled, her head throbbing. She collapsed onto the sofa in pain.
โMy lady, rest. Donโt talk. Youโre tired. Take your medicine.โ Bounty, overwhelmed by pain and Bettyโs hypnotic voice, was unable to resist. She simply wanted relief.
Bounty opened her mouth; Betty slipped in two pills. Soon, Bountyโs pupils dilated, and she fell unconscious.
Betty removed her human skin mask, revealing her true identity: Concubine Molly. Defeated by Olive and Elvis in a final battle, Mollyโpossessing an exceptional sense of smellโhad escaped. Now, hunted relentlessly by Elvis, sheโd disguised herself as Betty, hiding near Bounty, a key figure. Olive!
Molly intensely hated Olive, blaming her for the loss of her two children. Before Bountyโs death, her only thought was of Olive, fueling Mollyโs resentment.
Molly called a number. A soft voice answered: โHello, Molly.โ
Mollyโs demeanor shifted to deference. โPrincess, the matter is settled.โ
The caller was Naomi, the mermaid princess. The mermaids, having infiltrated Greenland, knew Anabelleโs background before anyone else, secretly manipulating events within the Augustine family for years.
โWell done. Your next assignment requires discretion,โ Naomi instructed.
โYes, Princess,โ Molly replied, hanging up.
Anabelle emerged, pausing on her way back, a sense of foreboding washing over her. Bountyโs distress earlierโฆ something had happened.
Worried, Anabelle returned to the villa. In the distance, she heard the wail of ambulances. Lights blazed from the mansion; someone was carrying Bounty out.
Anabelleโs bag fell; her breath hitched. She rushed forward, pushing through the crowd to find Bounty lifeless on a stretcher.
โBounty!โ Anabelle cried, shaking her. โWhatโs wrong? Wake up!โ
โMs. Augustine committed suicide by drug overdose,โ a doctor stated.
Suicide? Anabelle refused to believe it. Moments ago, Bounty was alive, talking to her! Anabelle touched Bountyโs handโicy cold. Memories flooded back: years ago, in a hospital corridor, doctors carrying a lifeless, blue baby from Bountyโs womb.
โBounty!โ Anabelle sobbed. โWake up! Hate me! Iโm still alive, but whyโฆ?โ
Betty shoved Anabelle to the ground. โEnough hypocrisy! Youโre the last person my lady wanted to see!โ
Ignoring her bleeding scratch, Anabelle watched as Bounty was carried away.
Betty gloated. โAnabelle, youโre a harbinger of death. Years ago, you plagued the Augustine family. Now, my lady is dead. Leave them alone!โ She added, โYou spoke with her for so long; did you provoke her? Iโll report you to the police.โ
Anabelle was arrested and locked in a cold cell. Images flashed through her mind: Bounty on the stretcher, the lifeless baby, Mrs. Samanthaโs silent tears, Alphaโs heart condition.
An accident in her life. Betty was right; she was a harbinger of death, bringing misfortune to the Augustine family. From a young age, sheโd felt bound, unable to escape her fate. Each step was precarious; she'd never dared to dream. Alpha had been the only exception, the one whoโd ignited hope in her heart.
