Chapter 715: Two Cute Children Taught Their Father a Lesson
Levi, usually evasive, surprised everyone by turning around, sitting on the sofa, and greeting Elvis: "Hi, Dad."
Seeing his son, Elvis walked over, affectionately caressing Levi's head. "Levi, you're back. Where's Ivy?"
Levi and Ivy had been living in the mansion for a few days, but Joyce had taken them to summer camp two days prior and they had just returned. Levi pointed upstairs: "She's upstairs."
"I'll go find her."
"Dad, no need. She's coming down. She just went up to packโฆ"
Elvis frowned. "Why is she packing?"
Levi shrugged. "Dad, do you need me to remind you what you did?"
Elvis remained silent.
At that moment, Ivy's immature voice echoed from upstairs: "Please help me move this suitcase; I can't lift it! My brother and I are moving out and we're never coming back!"
Elvis looked up. Ivy appeared, a maid already helping unload her suitcase. They truly intended to leave. Elvis felt a sharp pang of headache; he'd completely forgotten about their three nannies.
"Ivy, you're back! Dad misses you so much! Come here, give me a hug," Elvis exclaimed, extending his arms enthusiastically.
Ivy dodged, stepping back and looking up at him with an unhappy expression. "Uncle, who are you?"
Elvis hadn't anticipated his position as a father was so precarious; he'd been demoted to "uncle."
"Ivy, what are you doing? You want to move out with your brother and not stay with me anymore?" Elvis tried to soothe his daughter.
Ivy crossed her arms, frowning. "Isn't there another aunt here? Aunt and Uncle will have fun later. Do you still need us? There's no place for us here; we should leave quickly."
"Ivy, the adult world is complicated. Sometimes what you see isn't the truth. You just need to know that Dad loves you both."
Ivy glared at Elvis and angrily declared: "Big scum!"
Elvis was speechless.
"Grandma was right! When she brought us back, she said in the car that later, you'd say you loved Mom and us. A 'big scum's' love is only lip service. So, you're a big scum!"
Three black lines appeared on Elvis' forehead. He frantically searched his memory; he hadn't offended his mother-in-law. What had he done wrong?
Levi then walked over, took Ivy's hand, and said, "Ivy, let's go."
"Yeah, bro," Ivy agreed readily.
"Wait a minute! Levi, Ivy, it's too late. It's dangerous outside, and there's no car. Even if you want to go, you'll have to wait until tomorrow morning."
Levi waved his hand dismissively. "No need to worry. Grandpa is already waiting outside."
Elvis was astonished. His father-in-law was here? Of all times, his father-in-law wasn't by his side, and was even picking up the children, leaving him alone.
"Then I'll go see your grandpa," Elvis said, heading towards Damien.
"Dad, Grandpa said he doesn't want to see you right now. You don't need to go," Levi stated.
"By the way, Dad, Grandpa also said that as a strong adult, you should be able to care for the children, and you should hurry up. Because Grandpa knows many young, talented men. If you're bad, maybe one day, Grandpa will arrange a 'blind date' for Mom, and we'll have a new dad!"
Elvis felt a crushing blow. His backyard was on fire. His children had abandoned him, and his in-laws were isolating him. He knew this was the price for bullying Olive. They were ruthless.
"Ivy, let's go," Levi repeated, leading Ivy away.
"Leviโฆ" Elvis tried to call him back.
Levi turned, politely waving a small hand. "Dadโฆ no, Uncle, goodbye!"
The children's figures quickly disappeared.
Elvis stumbled back, Peterson rushing to his side. "Sir, are you alright?"
Elvis glared at Peterson. "Are you enjoying this?"
Peterson shook his head frantically. "Sir, I don't dare. Butโฆ I warned you this morning that Miss Hart wasn't easy and the consequences would be serious. You didn't listen. You can't blame othersโฆ"
Elvis put his hands on his hips and closed his eyes. Everything was a mess; even Peterson dared to lecture him now.
A timid voice, like a warbler, called from upstairs. "Big brotherโ"
Elvis looked up. Naomi, weak and frail, supported by a nurse, stood there, her large, watery eyes fixed on him.
Elvis composed himself, walking upstairs. "If you're hurt, stay in bed and rest."
"Brother, am Iโฆ troubling you? Sister Hart doesn't seem to like me; she doesn't want me to call you brother," Naomi said, distressed.
Peterson, downstairs, was speechless. He wanted to shout, "Miss Hart, help me deal with this fake girl!"
Elvis's handsome face remained impassive. He narrowed his eyes slightly. "Do you remember that time?"
"Of course," Naomi replied solemnly. "That year, I crossed the mountains to school. On the way back, the bus got stuck in a snowstormโฆ"
"I got off to gather firewood and saw you in the snow."
