Chapter 387: Everyone Except Me
โLeo, working with you has never been tough,โ Angela said with a bitter smile. โPut on your mask quickly, otherwise your girlfriend might see your true face, and that would be big trouble.โ
With that, Leonardo picked up his mask.
โLet me help you put it on,โ Angela offered, reaching for the mask first.
Their hands accidentally brushed against each other.
Suddenly, a hint of excitement washed over Angelaโs face as she was about to tightly grasp Leonardoโs hand.
โAhemโฆโ Raylee cleared her throat lightly. โWas I interrupting?โ
Leonardo hadnโt realized that his hand had accidentally brushed against Angelaโs.
Upon hearing Rayleeโs voice, he hastily grabbed his mask, placing it over his face.
Angela wore an awkward expression, her smile strained. โMs. Somers, are you here to see Leo? Usually, when weโre in the study, it means weโre discussing important matters. You should have given us a heads up first.โ
Raylee let out a snigger.
โDid you hear yourself, Ms. Angela? This is my home. Do I need to notify anyone when Iโm walking around? No matter how important the matter youโre discussing is, itโs not a secret. Why are you afraid of me hearing it? What are you implying with such suggestive remarks, Ms. Angela?โ
Raylee wasnโt going to indulge her.
She had no intention of starting a romantic rivalry, but she wasnโt just going to stand by and be a pushover.
Angela furrowed her brow as she said, โMs. Somers, I never said we have any secrets. Thereโs no need for you to be so dramatic. What Iโm trying to say is, staying up this late isnโt good for your health.โ
โDramatic? I wonder what the reason for me being dramatic is?โ Raylee gave Angela an impassive look. โShould I turn a blind eye when my boyfriend is spending the night alone with another woman? Or when another woman tries to touch my boyfriendโs hand?โ
โMs. Angela, I might be terribly ill, but Iโm not blind. My eyesight is perfectly fine. I can see everything I need to clearly.โ Having been chastised, Angela became somewhat flustered, saying, โLeo, you need to reassure your girlfriend. Sheโs clearly showing signs of jealousy! She canโt possibly be jealous of our bond, right? Weโve known each other for so many years, practically best friends. Why would I want to touch your hand? Wellโฆ to put it bluntly, even if we were lying naked in bed, weโd just be having a conversation. Our relationship couldnโt be any more platonic.โ
Leonardo, who had already put on his mask, glanced up at Angela.
โDidnโt I tell you to mind your words and actions? Instead, youโve said a lot of what you shouldnโt have. Alright, itโs late, you should leave now. When they leave next time, you should go with them. Donโt stay alone with me. Even though nothingโs going on between us, I donโt want my girlfriend to get the wrong idea. Raylee isnโt the type to make a fuss without reason. If she criticizes you, or misunderstands us, it means weโve done something wrong, understand?โ
After she was scolded, Angelaโs face alternated between anger and embarrassment.
When Raylee gave Angela a piece of her mind, she assumed that Leonardo would scold her for being naive, accusing her of being jealous for no reason.
Surprisingly, he didnโt do that, and the person he reprimanded was Angela.
At that moment, Raylee felt a warmth in her heart. Just as expected, he didnโt let me down!
โAlright, alright, Iโm leaving,โ Angela said, shaking her head. She then apologized to Raylee, โIโm sorry, Ms. Somers, it seems my actions might have led to a misunderstanding. I hope you wonโt mind, and please donโt get the wrong idea about Leo and me. Your health isnโt at its best, you must stay positive.โ
As she offered an off-ramp, there was no reason for Raylee not to take it.
โMs. Angela, Iโm truly grateful for your medical assistance. I look forward to working well together.โ
With that, Angela left.
Leonardo came over, pulled Raylee into his embrace, and apologized.
โIโm sorry. It was my fault for not providing you with a sense of security, leading to your misunderstanding and anger.โ
Raylee wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, her voice tinged with a hint of melancholy as she said.
โMr. Foucault, could you please explain whatโs going on between you and Ms. Angela? Iโm not blind. I can tell that she clearly has a thing for you. Donโt tell me that you didnโt notice anything. Moreover, youโve shown your face in front of her. She knows what you look like, and so does Halston. It seems like everyone knows your true identity, except me.โ
