Chapter 373: A Crisis Averted +8 Pearls
โIf you refuse to obey, Iโll have Dad discipline you!โ Gregory warned, before turning to apologize to Raylee.
โApologies, miss,โ he said. โMy younger brother is quite naive and may have caused you some inconvenience. Once I get back, Iโll make sure he doesnโt cause you any more trouble. You should continue with your relationship, and please, extend my apologies to your boyfriend.โ
โNo worries, General Mulligan. Itโs no big deal,โ Raylee courteously nodded.
General Mulligan is suchโฆ Why is there such a vast difference between the two brothers?
When Halston was taken away, he shouted toward the hospital room, โRayโRay, take me home, and plead my case with my grandpa. I canโt let Gregory take me into the army; I would be doomed! RayโRay, my precious, Iโm begging you, please!โ
Despite Halstonโs pleas, Raylee turned a deaf ear. His joining the military was the best optionโout of sight, out of mind. Plus, she had one less romantic rival to worry about.
In a moment of panic, Halston inadvertently spilled, โI know a secret about Mr. Foucault! If Iโm not mistaken, you probably havenโt seen his true face yet, have you? Look, Iโve seen it. If youโre willing to take me home and plead my case to my grandfather, then Iโll tell you what Mr. Foucault looks like!โ
Raylee paused, looking at him in astonishment. โYouโve seen him? Youโre not lying to me, are you?โ
โIโm telling you the truth! When have I ever deceived you?โ
Halston was shouting out loud while being led away.
Raylee turned to Plumpy and asked, โHave you ever seen what Mr. Foucault looks like?โ
The latter shook her head, saying, โI havenโt seen it.โ
โArenโt you curious?โ
โMs. Somers, Iโm not particularly interested in the bossโs appearance.โ
โBut I am!โ
Raylee promptly chased after Halston. Just as she got downstairs, Halston had already been taken away in a military vehicle. She promptly hailed a taxi and followed suit.
Upon arriving at the entrance of a residential area on a military base, Halston was escorted out of the vehicle. Just as he was about to be forcibly sent into the army for some much-needed discipline, Gregory suddenly received a phone call.
โWhat? Alright, Iโm on my way!โ
After hanging up the phone, Gregory had no time to bother about Halston with something urgent coming up. Immediately abandoning the latter, he and his subordinates drove off.
Halston breathed a sigh of relief. Upon turning around, he saw Raylee stepping out of the taxi.

Raylee didnโt care whether he had joined the army or not.
โYou mentioned earlier that you have seen what Mr. Foucault looks like?โ
A wave of shock washed over Halston, causing him to break out in a cold sweat. Hastily, he shook his head and said, โNo, I didnโt. Iโve never seen it. I was lying to you.โ
Looking at Halstonโs guilty demeanor, Raylee scoffed, โDo you take me for a fool? Quick, tell me what Mr. Foucault looks like! Otherwise, Iโฆโ She clenched her fist, her knuckles cracking with the strain.
โLookโฆ a rocket!โ Halston pointed behind him.
Leonardo being Jeremiah was a secret he didnโt dare reveal. The consequences of crossing Jeremiah were no better than being sent to the military.
Glancing back, Raylee saw that Halston had seized the opportunity to dart into the military base.
โDamn it, if you donโt tell me today, Iโm not going to let you go!โ Without another word, Raylee stormed in after him.
This was the place where Halston had grown up. Due to his rebellious nature and resistance to discipline, he had moved out to live on his own at a very young age, relishing in the taste of freedom. However, the majority of the elders and members of the Mulligan family were still residing on the military base.
As the second most influential family in the capital, the Mulligan family was not much weaker than the first-ranked Lorimer family. The sectors they were involved in were just different. The Mulligan family was primarily involved in military and political affairs, while the Lorimer family was engaged in business. In terms of military and political prowess, no one could match the Mulligan family.
