Chapter 288: I Missed You
Waverly fiercely scratched Tiffanyโs face with her sharp, long, fake nails. Even so, Tiffany refused to let go of Casimir, using him as a human shield while dodging the nails. As such, Waverly unintentionally hurt Casimir countless times. In an instant, Casimirโs face was marred; numerous wounds crisscrossed his features, making his once-handsome appearance utterly disheveled. The onlookers were dumbfounded; such a sight left them astounded. Some discreetly pulled out their cell phones to capture the moment, while others chuckled softly. However, no one dared intervene. After all, it was a tussle involving the eldest daughter of the Lorimer family, the prominent young lady of the Goodridge family, and the heir of the Sutherland family. Upsetting any of them would lead to more loss than gain, so no one was foolish enough to mediate.
Raylee hadnโt expected to witness such a spectacle for free while attending the banquet. โBrilliant! Simply brilliant!โ she thought. โLet these backstabbers rip into each other!โ She moved closer to admire the scene, only regretting she hadnโt brought binoculars.
Upon hearing the news, Alaric and Harriet rushed over, nearly scared out of their wits by the sight before them. He hastily yelled, โBodyguards! Where are the bodyguards? Hurry up and separate them!โ A group of well-trained bodyguards rushed in, and the farce finally ended.
Even after Tiffany had sobered up, she didnโt regret her actions. Instead, because Waverly had scratched her arm, she became aggressively confrontational. โMr. Goodridge, Mrs. Goodridge,โ she declared, โyour daughter has injured me. So, how do you plan to deal with this?โ
How else could they deal with it? Both Alaric and Harrietโs expressions turned extremely gloomy. No one had invited Tiffany, so her uninvited presence clearly indicated she was here to stir up trouble. Taking advantage of her drunken state to get the better of Casimir was no longer a simple matter of overstepping boundaries. It was clear her intention was to deeply humiliate Waverly. Even so, they couldnโt hold her accountable; they had to coddle her.
Alaric said with a smile, โHow about I have my daughter apologize to you, Ms. Tiffany? After all, Waverly was injured too. Look at her faceโseveral cuts were still bleeding. Moreover, my future son-in-law was also seriously injured, and you even forciblyโฆโ He didnโt finish his sentence, not wanting to embarrass Tiffany further.
In Jexburgh, the Lorimer family was an unquestionably powerful force. If one could avoid offending them, it was best to do so. Unless driven to desperation, Alaric would never easily challenge Tiffany.
โWhy should I apologize to her, Dad?โ Waverly complained through her tears. She then turned toward Tiffany and continued, โMs. Tiffany, you carried out such a shameless act in full view of the public. Can you honestly say you did nothing wrong? Casimir is my fiancรฉ, yet you acted so out of line with him. Does being a young lady from a prominent family give you the right to act so recklessly? If word about tonightโs incident gets out, do you think you can still face your family back at the Lorimer Estate with any shred of dignity?โ
โWho do you think you are, daring to lecture me?โ Tiffany threw a wine glass at her. Waverly hurriedly crouched down to dodge it. Raylee, standing behind her, saw the flying glass. She was about to grab it, but a pair of strong hands beat her to it, snatching it away. By the time Raylee realized what was happening, she was already being held in a bridal carry by a masked man. Beneath his mask, a pair of jet-black eyes were intensely fixed on her. His hoarse, deep voice resonated as he said, โWhy didnโt you stand further away while watching the commotion? What if you got hurt by accident?โ
At that moment, Rayleeโs heart pounded with excitement. โWhy are you back?โ
โI missed youโฆโ He deliberately lowered his voice, uttering words only they could hear. Raylee didnโt want to make their relationship public, so he had no choice but to keep it under control. Raylee had assumed he had another home with another woman and would never return. In an instant, all the gloom in her heart vanished.
โI missed you tooโฆโ Raylee embraced him, resting her chin on his collarbone and indulging in his scent.
As this scene unfolded before Casimirโs eyes, it stirred within him an irresistible mix of envy, jealousy, and resentment.
Waverly said scornfully, โRayleeโs legs just decide to give out whenever she sees a man, huh? Is she this desperate for men? She even pretended to be pitiful and weak, deliberately snuggling into his arms.โ
โHey! Who do you think you are, huh? Stop showing off with that mask and let go of my Ray-Ray right now!โ Baffled, Halston rushed over, acting like a jealous lover. He pushed away the masked man and tried to take Raylee away.
