“It’s just a demand letter; what are you afraid of? If she can prove you sent it, let her sue. My brother said demand letters are ineffective. Let them sue before we discuss this further. I can hire a lawyer, you know? Goodridge Group has a team; I could pick one to win your case!” Waverly replied nonchalantly.

“The thing is, Raylee hired a top lawyer from Blackacre Law Firm! You’ve heard of it, right? It’s the most formidable firm in Jexburgh, with an extremely high success rate! If it goes to court, I’ll be at a disadvantage!” Mindy said nervously.

“Blackacre Law Firm?” Waverly was taken aback.

Having mingled in the Jexburgh scene for four or five years, she’d definitely heard of this renowned, and infamously successful, firm. The lawyers there only took cases for wealthy, prestigious families and large corporations; they never bothered with minor cases. As Mindy had stated, the firm held the highest win rate in lawsuits nationwide since its establishment.

Waverly expressed her disbelief, saying, “How could someone insignificant like Raylee get a lawyer from Blackacre Law Firm to represent her? Who sent you that legal notice? Don’t let her fool you! She might be pulling the wool over your eyes!”

Mindy was so frightened she was trembling. “A lawyer named Waylon Zimmerman. I did my research; he’s a lawyer from that firm! If I don’t take down the post, apologize, and pay compensation, I’m going to prison, Wavy. You have to help me! We’re in this together. I only made the post because you told me to. You told me about Raylee messing around with a married man and being kept by an older man. Now that trouble has arisen, you can’t just abandon me!”

Waverly was so frustrated she didn’t know where to vent her anger. “I sent you to handle a task, and what did you do? Not only did you screw it up, but you also managed to get a top-notch lawyer involved!”

Annoyed, Mindy retorted, “It’s not like I had any control over how things unfolded. If it weren’t for your efforts to tarnish Raylee’s reputation, would I have ended up being used as a pawn and landed in trouble? Look, if you’re not going to help me deal with this, then we might as well go down together!”

Mindy wasn’t concerned about Waverly refusing to help her; she had too much leverage.

“Understood; I won’t let you go to prison. You have my word!”

Waverly simply couldn’t believe Raylee had the capability to hire a top lawyer from Blackacre Law Firm. She verbally agreed to Mindy’s request, then proceeded to drag her feet. As a result, Mindy was immediately arrested by the third day.

Having no choice but to step in, she discovered that Raylee’s legal representative was indeed Waylon. This was an extraordinary individual. In over two decades of practice, he had never lost a single case. He was the globally renowned lawyer and a partner at Blackacre Law Firm, a bigwig in the legal field. Without wasting any time, Waverly immediately sought a lawyer to fight back. However, all ten of the lawyers she hired were thoroughly defeated. Some, upon hearing they would be going against Waylon, didn’t even dare to take on the case.

On behalf of Raylee, Waylon presented a single demand—the removal of the offensive post, an apology, and a compensation of three billion, payable in full. If Waverly didn’t agree, they would fight it out in court.

I’ll have to be prepared for my inevitable loss if I take things to court. If Mindy recklessly spilled the beans, she would drag me down with her. When that happens, and everyone finds out I spread false rumors about Raylee, my dignity would be gone completely! I could still pull the wool over my family’s eyes, but I’ve already upset both Casimir and his mother. If another problem like this gets added to the mix, my mother-in-law would certainly have an even bigger issue with me!

The mere thought of the severe consequences left Waverly with no choice but to compromise. She ended up paying Mindy a hefty sum of three hundred million as compensation. Immediately, Mindy deleted the post, issued an apology, and transferred three hundred million to Raylee. It wasn’t until then that this matter came to an end.

Waverly couldn’t express just how heartbroken she was. The three hundred million was supposed to be Harriet and Samuel’s contribution for purchasing Margaret’s birthday gift. It was completely spent before she could even buy anything.
