Chapter 262: I Hope to Receive Your Blessing

Casimir couldn't contact Raylee, so he canceled two important meetings to wait for her at Jexburgh University. After waiting what felt like forever, he saw her engaging in playful banter with another man. Naturally, he was furious. After all, she had been missing for five months, and he had been searching tirelessly. He had even lost count of the nights heโ€™d spent intoxicated. He desperately wanted to clarify things with her, to assure her he hadn't intentionally cheated her out of her shares; that was merely a ploy for Alaric. Given the chance, he was determined to return them.

He'd thought he'd never have the chance to explain himself, only to have Raylee suddenly reappear. He was thrilled when he learned of her return yesterday. This time, he was absolutely determined not to lose her. Casimir headed toward Raylee but was intercepted by Waverly.

With a face full of surprise and delight, Waverly asked, โ€œCasimir, did you come to pick me up from school? Iโ€™m so happyโ€”โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Casimir replied vehemently, his denial a reflex born of frustration.

โ€œHuh? Did you come here looking for Raylee, then?โ€

In an instant, Waverlyโ€™s heart sank. The sudden sense of loss brought unshed tears to her eyes. She voiced her grievances, saying, โ€œCasimir, weโ€™ve announced our engagement to the world. Iโ€™m your fiancรฉe! How could you still harbor fantasies about Raylee? How could you do this when Iโ€™ve given you my whole heart? I truly love you!โ€ As she spoke, Waverly covered her mouth, tears welling up. Casimir had no idea when she would overcome her habit of bursting into tears at the drop of a hat. At that moment, he became even more irritated, not wanting to utter a single word.

As he occasionally glanced toward Raylee, he saw her speaking with Halston. Though it was unclear what she said, Halston seemed to be in high spirits afterward. The two appeared to be thoroughly enjoying their conversation. This caused envy, jealousy, and resentment to peak in Casimirโ€™s heart. Suddenly, a plan formed in his mind. He wanted to test and see if Raylee still harbored any feelings for him.

While Waverly was still crying, Casimir patiently said, โ€œWhat I mean is, I actually came to clarify things with Raylee. Stop crying; Iโ€™ll take you to her right now and clear things up. Thereโ€™s no chance of anything happening between me and her.โ€

Excited, Waverly looked up. โ€œReally? Casimir, youโ€™re not tricking me, are you?โ€

The next moment, he took Waverlyโ€™s hand and walked toward Raylee. Raylee was leaving the school gates when they stopped her. Seeing Casimir and Waverly blocking her path, she was somewhat taken aback.

โ€œWhatโ€™s up? Wasnโ€™t yesterdayโ€™s lesson enough? Or are you two looking for another beating today? Iโ€™m good to go, but I donโ€™t know if you two can take it!โ€ Her face held a half-smile, making her appear harmless as a lamb. But in reality, a second glance would send shivers down anyoneโ€™s spine. Waverly felt a touch of fear and silently took a step back. However, upon seeing Casimir holding her hand, she was suddenly filled with confidence again. With a radiant smile, she proudly exclaimed, โ€œDid you just finish school too, Raylee? Casimir took time out of his busy schedule to pick me up. I told him he didnโ€™t have to, but he insisted. Where do you live, Raylee? If itโ€™s on our way, maybe Casimir could give you a ride home too.โ€

Before Casimir could utter a word, Waverly had already spoken for him. He simply stood there, quietly observing Rayleeโ€™s reaction. In the end, she showed no reaction; there wasnโ€™t even a hint of change in her expression. Her composed demeanor instantly threw Casimir into a state of panic.

โ€œThat wonโ€™t be necessary,โ€ Raylee said, rejecting them with a stern look. She then walked away.

Casimir turned and stopped her, saying, โ€œWavy and I are about to get engaged. I hope to receive your blessing. Regardless of what happened between us, weโ€™ve known each other since we were kids and were childhood sweethearts. I donโ€™t want our relationship to become too strained.โ€

Waverly hadnโ€™t anticipated that Casimir would draw a clear line between himself and Raylee. She couldnโ€™t contain her excitement and found herself crying again. As she sobbed, she spoke, โ€œRaylee, the three of us have had misunderstandings in the past, but thatโ€™s all behind us now. Casimirโ€™s thoughts mirror mine. If we could have your blessing, it would surely make our happiness complete.โ€
