Chapter 191: A Scare

Upon leaving his innocent and well-behaved little sister, Samuel couldn’t help but let out a sigh. "I'm just worried about you and scared something might happen to you. That's why I ask you so many questions. I hope I'm just overthinking it. Well, if you're insistent on going… I can't stop you. However, I'll go with you! I will definitely protect you. You are, after all, the cherished one in the Goodridge family. I won't allow anyone to harm you."

"Thank you, Samuel! I love you so much!" Waverly gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

Samuel stared at Waverly in a daze, and it seemed as though he had glimpsed the Raylee of the past. The Raylee of the past was just as vibrant and lively. Whenever she encountered something that brought her joy, she would share it with him, clinging to his arm. She would even plant a kiss…

The same things were happening, but the person doing those things was no longer the same. At that moment, he and Hayler had become irreconcilable enemies, and he wondered if unchanging familial love still existed.

A week later, Tiffany’s birthday party was due to be held on the top floor of the Majencio Hotel. The birthday party hadn’t officially started yet, but the sky was already lit up with brilliant fireworks. Waverly attended the event in her finest attire. At the entrance of the hotel, she couldn’t help but look up as the sound of fireworks echoed overhead, taking in the spectacle. Watching the blue fireworks explode in the sky, one after another, was an overwhelmingly beautiful sight. She couldn’t help but be filled with tears of emotion. "Casimir is really good to me!"

If her guess was correct, those valuable blue fireworks, each burst, were a testament to power and wealth. Seeing Waverly on the verge of tears, Samuel frowned and asked, "Why are you upset about watching…?"

“Samuel, I’m so thrilled. I can’t believe Casimir values me so much. It’s been four years, and he was never this kind to me before! Finally, my patience has paid off, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Samuel, please tell me this isn’t just a dream!" She gave his hand a quick squeeze.

As the words fell, Waverly realized she had inadvertently spilled the beans. However, it didn’t matter. The secret was about to be revealed soon. When the time came, everyone would know about the surprise.

Just as she expected, Samuel noticed something was off and hurriedly asked, “What does this have to do with Casimir? Are you really hiding something from me? Wavy, tell me the truth!”

Waverly led him directly to the top floor. Arriving at the banquet venue, she discovered that the entire top floor, spanning thousands of square meters, was served solely for Tiffany to host her birthday party. In other words, Tiffany had reserved the entire top floor. "Me? Tiffany has booked the top floor for her birthday party. We’re not expecting another client.”

Persistently questioning numerous servers only yielded the same answer each time. She leaned against the wall, murmuring to herself. “What’s going on? Didn’t Casimir promise to host my birthday party early? He even mentioned that he wanted to announce our engagement publicly at the party. By then, the entire elite society of Jealough would know that I am the future lady of the Sutherland family.”

An equal measure of disappointment then matched the anticipation from a week prior. Just like a beautiful dream being shattered, Waverly found it impossible to accept reality. She appeared as if she’d been dealt a severe blow, her face turning deathly pale. Samuel steadied her by the shoulders, his voice laced with anxiety. “Wavy, what’s going on? Tell me quickly!”

With her eyes reddened, Waverly recounted the course of events.

“Damn it! What the hell is going on with Casimir, that bastard? How is this considered a surprise? It’s more like a scare!”

In a fit of anger, Samuel immediately called Casimir. Meanwhile, Shanice was also at the birthday party, and she happened to witness this scene. Waverly appeared to be crying bitterly, and Shanice was clueless about the melancholic conversation the siblings were engaged in. However, she noticed the necklace around Waverly’s neck. Visibly shaken, she quickly took a photo and sent a message to Raylee. What she didn’t expect was that Raylee was also at the banquet.

The two met up right away, and Shanice couldn’t wait any longer and asked, “Ray-Ray, isn’t that necklace the birthday gift Casimir gave you? How did it end up on that pretentious woman’s neck? What on earth happened? Did that pretentious woman steal it from you?”

Raylee shook her head. “I willingly gave it to her. However, how did you know that it was a gift from Casimir?”

“He’s abroad on a business trip, and he bought that necklace at the auction with great fanfare. He spent over two hundred million! How could I not know? He was so ostentatious that he was just short of announcing to the entire world that the necklace was your birthday gift! You really puzzle me. Why would you give such an expensive necklace to that pretentious woman? Aren’t you afraid that Casimir will find out and give you a piece of his mind?”
