โ€œPayment?โ€ Ingridโ€™s eyes shifted stiffly. โ€œWasnโ€™t it always deducted directly from the account?โ€

โ€œSorry, the account has been frozen.โ€

โ€œFrozen? Why?โ€

โ€œIt was frozen upon the account holderโ€™s request.โ€

Frozen on purposeโ€ฆ

โ€œHahahaโ€ฆ Hansel, you are truly ruthless!โ€

After spending over a month in the hospital, Ingrid was finally discharged that day. As she stepped outside and looked up at the bright sky and the white clouds, everything felt strangely unfamiliar.

It was as if she had stepped into a different world.

Hansel finished work early that day. Once inside the car, he instructed Dan, โ€œTake me to the mansion.โ€

โ€œYes, Mr. Johnson,โ€ Dan responded.

Hansel closed his eyes to rest as the car cruised smoothly along the road. When the sound of rushing wind from outside caught his attention, he opened his eyes.

The sky had grown dark and heavy, filled with the tension of an approaching storm. He thought of the rainy season, remembering the humid and oppressive air, and frowned in disgust.

The car smoothly entered the mansion area. Suddenly, Dan slammed on the brakes.

Hansel lurched forward due to the sudden stop. Had it not been for his seatbelt, he might have crashed into the front seat.

โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€ His voice was sharp, and his expression turned cold.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, Mr. Johnson!โ€ Dan quickly apologized. โ€œA woman jumped in front of the car. I had to brake!โ€

Hansel looked up.

It had started to rain lightly. Outside, standing in front of the car, was a woman who was drenched. Her hair clung to her neck, and her face was pale as a ghost.

Ingrid wore a long white dress, and her face was bare of makeup. The rain had plastered the fabric to her body, revealing the gentle curves beneath. She looked like a fragile flower battered by the storm, delicate and pitiful, on the verge of collapsing.

Even Dan couldnโ€™t help but feel a stir of emotion.

However, Hansel remained indifferent, his gaze cold as he looked away. โ€œWhen did the security around here get so lax? Anyone can just walk in now? Call security and have her removed.โ€

Dan snapped out of it, quickly reaching for his phone.

After leaving the hospital, Ingrid realized she had nowhere to go. Her mother and brother had abandoned her, and she couldnโ€™t return to her dormitory. The only place she could think of was Hanselโ€™s mansion.

Yet nowโ€ฆ

Through the windshield, she looked desperately at the man in the backseat, catching only a glimpse of his detached profile. He didnโ€™t even bother to look directly at her.

Ingrid ran to the side of the car, frantically banging on the window. โ€œHans, itโ€™s meโ€ฆ Iโ€™m backโ€ฆ Please, donโ€™t ignore me, okay? Iโ€™ve lost everything now; I only have you left.

โ€œI know I was wrong. I swear, from now on, Iโ€™ll listen to you, I wonโ€™t argue or fight. Iโ€™ll be quiet and obedient.โ€

But no matter how hard she knocked, how much she begged, the window never rolled down.

Soon, the property manager arrived with a group of security guards.

โ€œWho let you in? This is a private neighborhood. You need to leave immediately!โ€

Ingrid tried to explain, โ€œI lived here! Youโ€™ve definitely seen me before!โ€

The security guard shook his head. โ€œSorry, we donโ€™t recognize you.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s impossible! Iโ€™m Hanselโ€™s girlfriend, heโ€™s right here in the car. Heโ€™ll explain everythingโ€”โ€ Desperate, she knocked on the window again. โ€œHans, please, donโ€™t make them throw me out. I have nowhere else to goโ€ฆโ€

Within moments, two security guards received the orders. Without hesitation, they each took hold of her arms and began dragging her away.

Hansel sat in the car, expressionless as he watched. โ€œStill not driving?โ€

Dan snapped back to attention with sweat beading on his forehead. โ€œRight away, Mr. Johnson.โ€
