Chapter 485
When Joshua caught her in the act, Shermaine didnโt show any embarrassment at being discovered. Instead, she nodded frankly and admitted, โI want to take a nap, but I canโt fall asleep.โ
โWait for me, Sheary,โ Joshua said.
โThereโs no rush.โ Shermaine remained calm and unhurried.

Meanwhile, Barrett was deep in conversation with a female general from the military high command.
The general frowned when she heard them requesting two Sโlevel mecha fighter jets. โBarrett, if we had two new mecha fighter jets in our arsenal, or if the warfare situation wasnโt so dire, we would naturally agree to their request.โ
She continued, โBut the reality is, we donโt have them. Not only do we lack spare units, but Judyโs side has rolled out a terrifyingly powerful new mecha fighter jet. Our fighter jets have suffered devastating lossesโsome are so badly damaged that theyโre beyond repair.โ
Barrettโs expression grew heavy when he heard this news. He hadnโt realized their situation had become so critical. โIโll discuss this further with Cain,โ he said.
โFine.โ The female general didnโt end the video call.
After Barrett returned, he cleared his throat to get attention.
Joshua looked up. Barrett noticed that Shermaine in the video had flowing red hair that cascaded down her shoulders.
It was incredible how one person could transform into someone completely different through makeup alone. If it werenโt for her familiar facial features, they would have mistaken her for someone else entirely.
It was clear now that the woman Judy had put out a warrant for was none other than Boa Hanks.
โHello, Ms. Hanks.โ Barrett greeted her.
Shermaine gave a slight nod in response.
After the pleasantries, Barrett got straight to the point. โCain, I just spoke with military headquarters. Due to the recent intensification of the war, our mecha fighter jets are in critically short supply. We simply donโt have any spare units to allocate to you.โ
It seemed that ever since Judyโs return, their situation had gone from bad to worse. They couldnโt even spare a single mecha unit.
Shermaine raised an eyebrow at this news but didnโt press the issue. Instead, she asked pragmatically, โWhat about scrapped ones?โ
They definitely had scrapped units.
The female general spoke up immediately, โWe do have scrapped ones, but are you sure you want them?โ After all, repairing mechas was incredibly expensive and laborโintensive. Unless a professional mechanic handled the work, it would be completely useless.
โThat wonโt be a problem. I can fix them myself.โ This worked out perfectly. Since Shermaine was staying on this ship without competing, she had plenty of time on her hands.
โRepair them herself? Thatโs impressive.โ The female general exchanged glances with Barrett and the others, clearly surprised.
โIn that case, weโll send up the damaged mecha fighter jets when the ship docks next time. Weโll prepare a set of equipment and materials youโll need for the repairs. Beyond that, we donโt have any more to spare,โ the general explained.
โThat works for me.โ
One set should be enough. If it wasnโt, she could always order more online. Whenever she needed something, she could just shop online. Expensive items could be airโdropped anywhere, no matter the location.
Joshua then had them sign the alliance agreement.
After the contract was signed, Joshua wrapped up and headed back.
Shermaine had been waiting for about seven or eight minutes when he returned. His warm palm slipped under the covers, and a tingling kiss landed on her lips.
Just as Joshua was about to lend a helping hand with some intimate service, Gracie woke up in the crib beside them. She was hungry and wanted her milk.
Hearing the crying, Shermaine immediately went over to her.
As soon as Shermaine approached, Gracie stopped crying and waited to be fed.
Shermaine lifted Gracie into her arms and tugged at her loose clothing, preparing to nurse. She felt Joshuaโs gaze land on her and pressed her lips together. โTurn around. I need to feed Gracie.โ
Joshuaโs Adamโs apple bobbed. โDonโt we still have some of the pumped milk left for Gracie?โ
โWe can save that for later, just in case we need it.โ Shermaine narrowed her eyes with a smile. โMr. York, youโre not getting jealous of your own daughter, are you?โ
