Chapter 478

Queen Cobraโ€™s exotic perfume had little effect on Joshuaโ€™s iron will. The scent was designed to numb a personโ€™s nerves, and if it worked, she could subdue him easily even if he tried to resist.

But reality rarely matched expectations.

As Queen Cobra approached, reaching for Joshuaโ€™s coat, he had already pulled it away from the heater and slipped it on.

Joshua adjusted his collar with practiced ease.

Queen Cobra saw something in him sheโ€™d never encountered beforeโ€“a nobility that went beyond breeding.

It was a quality completely absent in the spoiled sons of even the wealthiest families.

Joshua possessed an innate regality. His violet hair was neat and sharp, and his calm demeanor made him seem almost godlike, looking down on everyone else with quiet superiority.

Queen Cobra narrowed her eyes. She studied Joshuaโ€™s expression carefully.

He was far too composed, showing no signs of being affected by her drug. The exotic fragrance emanating from her body seemed to have zero impact on him.

Queen Cobra didnโ€™t panic or rush into action. She was a master at playing the long game. Perhaps his willpower was strong enough to delay the drugโ€™s effects. She would wait a bit longer.

โ€œAm I that scary? Do I really make you want to run away?โ€ she smiled, keeping her tone light and easy.

โ€œYou stink.โ€ Joshua had always been a clean freak. Except for Shermaine, he couldnโ€™t stand any woman getting too close, let alone touching his clothes.

Not a chance.

Besides, Shermaine was the jealous type. If he came home smelling like another woman, sheโ€™d be upset. Joshua decided heโ€™d throw this jacket away later.

Queen Cobraโ€™s smile froze. โ€˜Do I stink? What the hell is this man talking about? How could I possibly smell bad?โ€™

No one had ever resisted her charm before. She had countless admirers in the industry, all of them dying to worship at her feet and give her everything she wanted.

Queen Cobra decided to give him one more chance. โ€œWatch your language.โ€

Joshua cut to the chase. โ€œIs this all Simon sent? Just you?โ€

โ€œAre you underestimating me?โ€ Queen Cobra asked casually, but her tone carried weight. โ€œSimon sent me to deal with you, but honestly, youโ€™re too handsome for your own good. Youโ€™re exactly my typeโ€“how could I possibly hurt you?โ€

Joshuaโ€™s voice remained flat. โ€œYouโ€™re just a woman who clawed her way to third place on the assassin leaderboard through dirty tricks. He must really think highly of you.โ€

Queen Cobraโ€™s expression changed completely at his words. Her friendly facade vanished, replaced by an icy coldness.

The exotic fragrance surrounding her intensified as she said, โ€œThen let me show you exactly how strong the thirdโ€“ranked assassin really is.โ€

The mechanical watch on her wrist transformed instantly into a sharp blade. She gripped the knife and lunged forward, her high heels doing nothing to slow her movements.

Queen Cobra couldnโ€™t tolerate anyone questioning her abilities. It didnโ€™t matter how attractive this man wasโ€“sheโ€™d seen plenty of handsome men before and wasnโ€™t about to hang herself on one tree. Besides, heโ€™d never been hers to begin with.

More importantly, his venomous tongue and complete lack of gentlemanly manners disgusted her. She hated men who werenโ€™t gentlemen. His tongue deserved to be cut to shreds.

Queen Cobra was vicious, determined to destroy Joshuaโ€™s face.

When she lunged at him with the knife, Joshua didnโ€™t flinch. With lightning speed, he dodged, moving as swiftly as the wind.

He saw no reason to play nice with her. Though he came unarmed, he could improvise.

He slammed his fist into the glass mirror, shattering it into pieces. He picked up a shard of glassโ€“sharp enough to cut most people, but in his hands, it became a weapon that would only hurt others, never himself.

They clashed violently. Joshua showed no mercy.

Queen Cobra began to feel the deadly pressure beneath his calm exterior. She sensed the lethal danger he posed.

With a loud clang, her knife hit the floor. She clutched her face as blood seeped through her fingers. Joshuaโ€™s glass shard had come within inches of slicing her throat.

It was too close.

Queen Cobraโ€™s face darkened. โ€œAfter all this time, why isnโ€™t my Enthrall Scent affecting you at all?โ€
