Chapter 344
Danielle replied, โItโs healing fast. Ross has a strong constitution. Heโs already up and walking. The stitches should come out in another week. The doctor is doing his routine check. Want to talk to him?โ Her foot was still in a cast, likely for another two weeks.
โNo, Iโm having lunch. Iโll head out soon after,โ Shermaine said. With Danielleโs care, she had no worries about Ross. Besides, they were in the midst of a budding romance; there was no point intruding on their time.
โAlright then, bye.โ โBye.โ
The call ended.
After the routine checkup, Ross was still sitting there, his hospital gown hanging loosely open. When Danielle entered, using her crutches, she gently reminded him, โItโs getting chilly. Dress properly.โ
Noticing her gaze lingering on him, Ross smiled, โCare to help, Dr. Shelly?โ
Danielle would love to. Setting her crutches aside, she bit back a smile. Before fastening his buttons, she leaned down and pressed a kiss to his bandaged wound.
Visibly, Ross tightened his abs, his breath hitching as his ears flushed red. He hadnโt realized Danielle could affect him so much. That kiss alone nearly triggered other reactions.
Danielle deliberately teased him, โI didnโt know you were this easy to fluster.โ
Ross didnโt speak. His face burned hotter.
She tugged his gown, grinning. โDidnโt you date someone in high school? That ex even showed up at Shearyโs birthday. Didnโt she reach out again after that?โ
To be honest, Ross barely remembered his high-school romance. If Amelia hadnโt reappeared, he would have forgotten her.
Now, with Danielle bringing it up, panic flickered instantly. Worrying she would misunderstand, he immediately explained, โI never liked her. She did reach out later, but I refused to meet.โ
Danielle raised an eyebrow. โOh? Then why did you date her?โ
Ross hesitated. โThere was another girl who kept chasing me. I had no choice but to use Amelia as a shield.โ Using someone like that clashed with his gentle demeanor, but he had to admit he had a darker, more calculating side.
He continued, โI know it was wrong, but Amelia benefited too. I owe her nothing.โ Even years later, he had no guilt about it.
Before Ross, Danielle had never dated anyone. Learning about his high-school romance had bothered her. โBut when we kissed, you were skilled. It didnโt seem like your first time.โ
That one kiss had nearly spiraled out of control. Danielle had been too intoxicating.
Ross swallowed at the memory. โThat was just male instinct, and Iโm talented.โ
Danielle smiled, eyes glittering. Her warm breath grazed his Adamโs apple as she braced her hands on his shoulders, peppering kisses along his jaw. โFine. But donโt you have questions for me?โ
Ross placed his hands on her waist. โNo.โ His gaze burned. โDanielle, I just want to kiss you.โ
