Chapter 338
At 2:30, the Academic Exchange Conference began. Shermaine, possessing the solution to the twin prime conjecture, had to adhere to the rules; her presentation was scheduled last. Without her groundbreaking revelation, the other presentations might have seemed impressive, but compared to the twin prime problem, they paled in significance.
Kylie flipped up her skirt and produced a silenced pistol. She sprang to her feet and fired at Shermaine during her conversation with the academics. No one reacted. The silencer was perfectly quiet, and the hall buzzed with conversation. Hitmen inside and outside the lecture hall immediately sealed it off.
Although the silenced gunshot was inaudible to the crowd, Shermaine perceived the subtle sound. The shot was aimed at her shoulder. They intended to wound her firstโassuming a bleeding target would be easier to subdueโthen finish her off. A classic Kylie maneuver, though utterly delusional.
โDuck!โ Shermaine shouted. The academics around her fell to the floor like dominoes. She twisted aside, grabbing a pen from the table and throwing it like a knife. The pen could easily puncture skin.
Meanwhile, the hitmen in the hall drew their weapons. The goon behind Molly had barely touched his gun when the alluring woman he coveted pressed a box cutter to his crotch. โOne twitch and your dickโs history,โ she smiled, a flash of teeth. Men didn't trifle with threats to their masculinity. He froze, assessing his options. She had already palmed his pistol. โShermaine, catch!โ
Molly tossed the gun. Shermaine caught it in midair, vaulted the desk, and charged the hitman who had shot at her. Kylie dodged the pen and fired another round, seething, but her shots missed. Some people fled; others cowered under desks. Molly, a skilled knife fighter, disarmed the hitman and lunged for his crotch. He dodged just in time; the blade embedded itself in his thigh.

โBitch!โ he snarled, swinging a powerful fist. Kylie, having never faced Shermaine before, was shocked by her fighting skills. Shermaine fought like a ninja.
Then Shermaine detected Kylie's scent, and when Kylie's cap fell off, her eyes gave her away. Shermaine smiled. โSo youโre the psycho gunning for me.โ
Kylie sneered. โYouโd still be breathing if you hadnโt ruined my plans and stolen my success.โ Her voice hardened. โThis is my territory. Youโre not leaving Ustrana alive.โ
โMy success?โ Shermaine raised an eyebrow. โKylie, if you had any skill, you wouldnโt constantly lose to me.โ She added dryly, โLosers like you live in a fantasy world. And I can leave Ustrana whenever I please.โ Even the supremely confident Molly didn't claim Ustrana as her own. Kylie was hopelessly delusional.
โOpen your eyes,โ Kylie snapped, her face flushed. โMy men have this place secured. Youโre trapped. Prepare to die.โ
