Chapter 121

She continued, "How about this? You and Mr. York form one team, and Iโ€™ll partner with Mr. Wright. Weโ€™ll have a pairs race, and the first team to reach the finish line wins.โ€

Shermaine shot her a knowing glance and smiled. โ€œSince itโ€™s a competition, there should be a prize, right?โ€

Olivia was taken aback and instinctively turned to Kingston.

It was obvious that in their relationship, Kingston was the one calling the shots.

Kingstonโ€™s eyes flickered. โ€œYou make a fair point. The losing team hands over the most valuable gift theyโ€™ve received recently to the winners. How about it?โ€

Henry raised an eyebrow. โ€œTheyโ€™re really going all out?โ€ he wondered, glancing at Joshua, who showed no intention of stepping in. Wasnโ€™t he worried Shermaine might get screwed by Kingston? From what Henry knew, that two-faced guy was a master of dirty tricks.

Spotting a golden opportunity, Shermaine grinned and licked her lips. She then looked up at Joshua. With a playful glint in her eyes, she asked, โ€œWanna play for keeps?โ€

Joshua lowered his gaze slightly. Amidst the icy mountain landscape, his eyes held a subtle warmth. He said softly, โ€œItโ€™s up to you, Sheary.โ€

For the first time, Joshua called her โ€œSheary.โ€

His voice was irresistibly pleasant and magnetic. For such an unattainable man, there was actually a note of tender affection in his tone.

It felt a bit strange hearing Joshua call her โ€œSheary,โ€ but she had to admit that it sounded unexpectedly sweet.

โ€œThen itโ€™s my call.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ said Joshua.

Shermaine curled her lips into a pleased smile, turned to Kingston, and asked playfully, โ€œIf our most valuable gifts arenโ€™t of equal value, how would you handle it?โ€

Kingston said casually, โ€œThen weโ€™ll make up the difference in cash.โ€

Shermaine nodded, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. โ€œNot a bad idea. Why donโ€™t you start us off, Mr. Wright? Tell us, whatโ€™s the most valuable gift youโ€™ve received recently?โ€

Kingston had never seen Joshua indulge any woman like this. Shermaine was the first. Anyone with eyes could tell he was into her.

โ€˜Unbelievable,โ€™ Kingston thought. โ€˜How could the aloof and restrained Joshua York lower his standards and become infatuated with just one woman?โ€™

Shermaine was nothing but a pretty face. What made her so special that Joshua treated her differently?

Kingston subtly clenched his fist and said, โ€œRecently, my father gifted me a luxury mansion worth over 1.5 billion dollars.โ€

With that, Henry clapped and teased, โ€œSuch generosity, Mr. Wright. Not afraid to lose it all, are you?โ€ He recalled that solo match the other night, when Shermaine utterly dominated Roy, the worldโ€™s best jungler.

Now, he couldnโ€™t wait to see Shermaine work her magic and win that mansion just so this arrogant Kingston could finally see what a real pro looks like.

Kingston retorted with a smirk, โ€œYou gotta give to get, right?โ€

Now, Shermaine was determined to win that luxurious mansion.

She narrowed her eyes and said, โ€œJust recently, Joshua gifted me a supercar worth more than 600 million dollars.โ€

Henry teased, โ€œCome on, Mr. York. Only 600 million? Thatโ€™s a bit tightfisted, donโ€™t you think?โ€

โ€œTrue, I was being thoughtless,โ€ Joshua replied calmly. For someone of his status, that car was indeed unworthy. If he had known earlier, he would have prepared something far more fitting for Shermaine.

He resolved to make it up to her with something truly exceptional for her birthday next year.

โ€œHenry was just teasing. Why take it so seriously?โ€ To Shermaine, given their relationship at the time, Joshuaโ€™s supercar was already incredibly generous. She didnโ€™t have enough money to buy him a similar gift yet. But she would soon.

โ€œBecause I want to give you something even better,โ€ Joshua thought, his gaze burning as it lingered on Shermaine. He paused, then ultimately held back the words.

Kingston interjected calmly, โ€œWell, if we win, Ms. Shue, youโ€™ll have to make up the one billion difference. But if you win, my mansion will be yours.โ€

Shermaine nodded with a smile. โ€œIโ€™ve got it on record as proof,โ€ she said, just in case Kingston tried to renege. โ€œAny official rules?โ€

Kingston announced, โ€œBoth teammates must cross the finish line for the team to win.โ€

Shermaine pressed, โ€œAnything else?โ€

Kingston shrugged. โ€œPlay it however you want.โ€

Henry volunteered. โ€œAlright then, Iโ€™ll be the referee. We start in five minutes.โ€
