Chapter 104

They played another round, and once again, Royโ€™s Lebron was executed three times by Sharmaineโ€™s Tristana, ending in defeat. This match lasted a bit longerโ€“five minutes.

Thoroughly defeated, Roy no longer dared to boast about beating Sharmaine. Right now, he was a little scared.

Roy gave her a thumbs-up and said, โ€œAlright, you win. Youโ€™re incredible. Youโ€™re my top idol from now on!โ€

Roy used to idolize Joshua the most because Joshua was super strong and amazing at everything. But now, Shermaine became number one, and Joshua dropped to second place.

Shermaine hadnโ€™t relaxed and played games like this in ages. Still craving more, she wanted to queue up for ranked matches and play a couple more rounds.

Roy kept chattering, โ€œMan, I was really blind before! Just apologizing and tonightโ€™s arrangements arenโ€™t nearly enough for you to forgive me. How about this? Why donโ€™t you just take me under your wing!โ€

Shermaine gave him a thoughtful glance. โ€œSeriously?โ€

Roy felt a chill run down his spine and gulped nervously under Joshuaโ€™s invisible pressure.

Henry smacked him on the head. โ€œLet Shermine take you in? What are you thinking?โ€ He smirked. โ€œOr do you want to end up digging potatoes in the middle of nowhere?โ€

Roy yelped, clutching the back of his head. He hurriedly explained, โ€œI just meant for Shermaine to take me in as her sidekick. She can order me around however she wants.โ€ He shot a nervous glance at Joshua and whispered, โ€œJoshua, please donโ€™t get the wrong idea.โ€

Joshua shot him a cold, measured look. โ€œThere wonโ€™t be a next time.โ€

Roy nodded rapidly, like a chick pecking at rice.

Subsequently, Joshuaโ€™s gaze fell on Sharmaine, burning with the urge to whisk her home and keep her all to himself.

Royโ€™s fawning over Shermaine was just unbearably irritating. It was really getting on my nerves. Yet, Shermaine showed no intention of leaving.

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Roy peeked at Shermaine, his words trailing off nervously.

Shermaine knew what he was getting at. After a brief pause, she asked, โ€œSo, how many followers do you have on social media?โ€

โ€œLots and lots! Iโ€™ve got over 30 million followers,โ€ Roy replied eagerly.

Shermaine said, โ€œAlright.โ€

Roy nearly burst out laughing but held it in. He was so thrilled he could practically float.

But then he remembered Joshuaโ€™s presence, so he bit back his excitement.

Roy beamed, his voice full of playful flattery. โ€œMilady, youโ€™re the best!โ€

Shermaine just shrugged and said, โ€œThatโ€™s because youโ€™re useful to me.โ€ With a sidekick who had that many followers, Lily could get help and score some free promo. Pretty sweet deal.

Roy groveled with shameless flattery, saying, โ€œFeel free to use me however you want. Iโ€™m totally at your service!โ€

Shermaine brushed off his flattery, eyes still glued to the screen. โ€œRanked?โ€

โ€œReady?โ€ she asked curtly.

Chapter 1040

โ€œSure, come on!โ€ Roy felt excited.

Joshua did his best to restrain his jealousy.

Green with envy yet unable to stop Shermaine and Roy from gaming, Joshua returned to his seat. He reached for his glass, but pained by Shermaineโ€™s earlier warning, reluctantly set it back down.

โ€œDamn, Iโ€™d love to game with Shermaine too. Looks like Roy really got a lucky break,โ€ Henryโ€™s eyes sparkled with teasing amusement.

Joshua tugged at his collar, his chiseled features tensed. The urge to sweep Shermaine home and keep her all to himself grew more insistent by the second, an unrelenting pulse gnawing at him without pause.

Joshua sneered coldly, โ€œA blessing in disguise?โ€

Henry cleared his throat. Maybe he shouldnโ€™t make Roy a target, or Joshua might take notice. He was all refined manners on the surface but ruthless underneath, a real wolf in sheepโ€™s clothing. Joshuaโ€™s possessiveness over Shermine was downright scary, and Roy was no match for him.

Shermaine and Roy played two ranked matches together. Roy was already Stellar Hunter, while Shermaine, after a long break, was only in Diamond. Their opponents were still formidable.

Little did their opponents know, they were up against King, the former top-ranked player, and Roy, the worldโ€™s best jungler. Together, this formidable duo dominated every match.

Afterwards, they went out together for some late-night snacks.

The feast was lavish and delicious.

According to Roy, heโ€™d hired several renowned Michelin-starred chefs to prepare this feast, all just to make it up to her.

Tasty as the late-night snacks were, they couldnโ€™t compare to Joshuaโ€™s cooking earlier that day. While good, they werenโ€™t exactly unforgettable.

It was almost 11 p.m. when the so-called apology dinner finally wrapped up.

Roy pointed at the two gorgeous bouquets on the table. Grinning, he asked, โ€œWant to take these flowers with you?โ€

Shermaine said flatly, โ€œJust deal with them. Thereโ€™s too much hassle to bring them back.โ€

โ€œGot it!โ€ Roy replied with exaggerated cheer. โ€œJust hit me up on WhatsApp anytime you need me.โ€

As they stepped out of the room, Shermaine remembered Joshuaโ€™s condition and said, โ€œCome with me. Iโ€™ll drive you home.โ€

โ€œPerfect timing,โ€ Joshua thought with a smirk. There was no way he would turn down such a golden opportunity.

With snow on the roads, Shermaine drove carefully.

Joshua sat in the passenger seat, eyes closed, resting.

Before long, the car pulled into the garage. Shermaine turned her head and called Joshuaโ€™s name, but there was no response.

Was he asleep?

Sharmaine got out and opened the passenger door. Just as she reached to tap his shoulder, Joshua seized her hand. With a swift tug, he pulled her against him.

A subtle hint of tobacco instantly wrapped her up.

Shermaine called softly, โ€œJoshua?โ€

Chapter 104

Joshua opened his eyes and met Shermaineโ€™s beautiful eyes.

โ€œWeโ€™re here,โ€ Shermaine murmured.

Joshua kept a firm hold on her hand as Shermaine stepped back from the car. Unbuckling his seatbelt, he followed her.

Upon reaching the second floor, Shermaine said coolly, โ€œGet some rest.โ€

Joshua took her hand once more. Shermaine turned to meet his gaze; he clearly had something to say.

โ€œShermaine,โ€ he called, his voice low. His eyes darkened. โ€œAs your fiancรฉ, Iโ€™m far more useful to you than Roy. If you ever need anything, why not come to me?"
