Chapter 69

Years ago, I knew Cole didn't realize Ava's feelings for him. Ava appeared aloof, but she was also shy. We had known each other for three years, and her love was deeply hidden.

Originally, Ava planned to confess to Cole after his college graduation. However, Cole disappeared immediately after graduation, leaving her with no opportunity to confess.

Understanding Ava's distress, I handed her the laptop, saying, "Check if the laptop has any issues. If it does, I'll have it repaired. I'll go order some food for us first."

Cole was worried. "Are you sure you're okay, Ava?"

Ava looked a bit lost, with a hint of hidden resentment. She shook her head. "I'm really fine."

Meanwhile, in the neighboring ward, Lukas ordered takeout for Elias. Elias grinned. "Didn't you say you wouldn't bring me food?"

Lukas gave him a cold look. "Do you think ordering takeout is the same as bringing food?"

Elias chuckled. "I don't think there's much difference. By the way, I thought you wouldn't come tonight. Why did you change your mind?"

Lukas instantly recalled planning to send Sophia to the hospital, only for her to willingly get into Cole's car.

His face darkened. "Are you so eager to see me unhappy? You seem pleased."

Elias immediately mimed sealing his mouth with tape. "Okay, I'll shut up. I won't provoke you when you're in a bad mood."

Lukas snorted coldly and remained silent.

About half an hour later, the takeout arrived. Lukas sat still, sucking on a peppermint candy.

Elias resigned himself to fetching the takeout. When he received it from the delivery guy, he noticed another package addressed to Sophia, destined for the neighboring ward.

Elias found this amusing and turned to Lukas. "Lukas, the takeout for us and the one next door came together. Let's go eat together."

Lukas's face was stern. "I'm not going."

Elias shrugged. "Well, I'll go by myself then."

Elias playfully tried to convince the delivery guy. "The patient in the neighboring ward is my good friend. Let's make a deal—I'll deliver the food to her. What do you think?"

The delivery guy hesitated, furrowing his brows. "Isn't that inappropriate?" Besides, he had already reached the door.

Elias understood the delivery guy's concern, so he patted his shoulder. "How about this? You wait here while I take the food inside. You can see me deliver it to her personally. How does that sound?"

Seeing the delivery guy still unsure, Elias teased, "Don't be so rigid. I just want to have some fun with my friends."

The delivery guy pursed his lips. "Alright, I'll wait here. You go ahead and deliver the food."

Elias happily raised his finger. "Deal!"

With the food in hand, he knocked on the neighboring ward's door.

Hearing a familiar voice call, "Your delivery is here," I got up to receive it.

When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Elias's playful face.

"Why is it you?" I was taken aback.

Elias smirked, leaning against the doorframe. "Why, Designer Lopez? Not happy to see me?"

I furrowed my brows. "The food?"

Elias handed me the food and glanced at the delivery guy. "You see? I know her. I've delivered the food. You can leave now."

The delivery guy quickly nodded and left.

I glanced at the other package of food in Elias's hand, speechless. I didn't expect him to be so bored as to bring me the food.

I was about to turn back when I heard Elias say, "Designer Lopez, since I brought you the food, how about inviting me to dinner?"

Chapter [presumably 70, needs clarification]

I looked at him expressionlessly. "If you want to come, then come."

Before I could finish, Elias raised his voice and shouted towards the neighboring ward, "Lukas, did you hear that? Designer Lopez invited us to her ward for dinner. Come quickly."

After saying this, Elias casually walked in with the food.

My expression stiffened. When did I invite Lukas?

Moreover, I thought Lukas had already left, leaving only Elias. Otherwise, how could I have inadvertently invited him to eat with us?

Now, it seemed like I would have trouble explaining this. Lukas probably thought I was playing hard to get. After refusing his car ride to the hospital, I'd seemingly devised a new plan to attract his attention.

While I was thinking, I saw Lukas walking out of the neighboring ward.

He glanced at me expressionlessly, passing me directly and entering the ward.

I felt invisible.

I smirked slightly. Not only did he come uninvited, but he was also acting aloof.
