Chapter 27

Hugo froze. I turned abruptly, seeing Lukas's handsome face up close. Shocked speechless, I could only hear his enchanting voice. He raised an eyebrow, looking at me with indifference. "What's wrong? Do you like what you see?"

I snapped out of it, my voice dropping. "N-no… Why… What are you doing here?"

With Lukas present, my arrogance and domineering attitude, displayed toward Hugo a moment before, vanished.

Lukas chuckled, amused. "Can't I come?"

I puffed out my cheeks, unable to refute him.

Hugo stared at Lukas, dumbfounded. His face shifted repeatedly before he managed, "Mr. Strakovski, why are you here?"

Lukas's eyes narrowed, his voice cold. "I heard you intend to sue Strakovski Jewelry's designer. How could I not come?"

Hugo laughed awkwardly. "But…Sophia… she's… she's clearly a designer for Trifleming…"

Before Hugo finished, Lukas interrupted, "From this moment on, she is our designer!"

Hugo tried to argue, "But she…"

Lukas's expression turned cold, impatient. "I said, she is!"

Hugo's face contorted. He glanced at me, beside Lukas, and saw the gloating look in my eyes. He understood. He'd fallen into this trap because of my scheme; Lukas and I had known each other for a long time.

Lukas didn't intend to waste time. He'd come to pick me up, fearing Hugo would cause trouble once my act was over. He was fiercely protective, especially of me.

He looked at me intently. "When do you plan to leave for Strakovski?"

My eyes flickered. "Tomorrow, I suppose."

Lukas nodded, determined. "Can we leave now?"

I nodded and followed him.

Seeing them leave, Hugo shouted, "Sophia!"

I paused, took a deep breath, gathered my strength, and slowly turned.

Lukas remained calm, standing quietly, not interfering.

Hugo stared, his expression gloomy, his emotions swirling. "You planned all of this, didn't you?"

A slow, calculating smile crossed my face. "Yes! Of course! Can't you see? Why ask?"

Although everything was clear, he couldn't believe that I, always obedient and loving, could orchestrate such a scheme. He wrestled with anger, unwillingness, and bitterness.

His voice hoarse, he roared, "You loved me, right? Why would you do this?"

I laughed. "Love? Ha! Hugo! I did love you, but how dare you say that! Where was I in our relationship these past two years? Every time you complimented Bella with my designs, did you see me? Every time you were with Bella, did you remember me? When you abandoned our wedding for Bella, did you remember me? When you and Bella registered your marriage, did you even think of me? I wasted two years, two fucking years loving you! How could you do this to me?!"

My words poured out, raw with emotion, my voice trembling. The betrayal and deceit had surfaced; I couldn't hold back my pent-up emotions. My eyes reddened, tears falling for my wasted youth.

Heartbreak alone I could have endured, but this was more than that. It was the emotional and psychological damage Hugo and Bella inflicted through their deception. They hadn't just hurt me; they'd made me feel disgusted and used.

"L…" Hugo knew he was wrong. Seeing Lukas standing firmly beside me, he realized he couldn't do anything to me.

He softened his tone. "Sophia, it's my fault. I'm very, very sorry. Let's talk about this behind closed doors as a family, alright?"

Before I could respond, Lukas sneered. "Family…"
