Chapter 239
Elizabeth figured Rose must have seen Alexander taking Esme to the press conference. She felt bad for dragging the Percy family into this mess. Alexander really crossed the line this time, totally ignoring the Percy family. Elizabeth pursed her lips and glanced at Rose, who was cleaning and muttering, โWhy wonโt it come clean?โ Elizabeth knew there was more to Roseโs words.
Rose waved her hand. โGo wash up. Weโre having dinner together. Charles is back today, too.โ
Elizabeth blinked. Charles is back?
She went inside and saw Charles playing chess with Declan. They seemed to be having a blast.
โUncle!โ Elizabeth called out.
Charles looked up. โElizabeth, come over here!โ
โUncle, when I was in the hospital, you didnโt even visit! Iโm mad at you!โ Elizabeth complained, but still sat next to him.
Declan smiled. Elizabeth was always close to Charles! Once she saw Charles, she ignored Declan!
โDidnโt I hear you were discharged and brought barbecue right away?โ Charles tapped her head.
Elizabeth blinked. โWeโre having barbecue tonight?โ
โYep, just waiting for you. Dinnerโs about to start!โ Charles laughed.
Elizabeth nodded. โAlright, Uncle, you do care about me.โ
Charles said, โWhen have I ever not cared about you?โ
Elizabeth washed her hands, grabbed an apple, and sat down. โLila mentioned an entertainment industry party in Lisbon soon. Are you going?โ
โYeah, you coming?โ Charles asked, still playing chess.
โIs it fun?โ Elizabeth asked, munching on the apple.
โLots of handsome guys,โ Charles grinned.
Elizabeth was about to decline.
โGive her an invite. Let her have some fun!โ Declan suggested.
Charles snapped his fingers. โExactly what I was thinking.โ
Chapter 239
โA boring power party, whatโs the point?โ Elizabeth got up to check the barbecue.
Charles said, โFor us, itโs a power party. For newcomers, itโs a chance to network and get good resources. More connections, fewer enemies, right?โ
Elizabeth couldnโt argue with that.
โYouโre right.โ She nodded and went to check the barbecue.
Charles laughed. โElizabethโs always been carefree! Declan, sheโs nothing like you.โ
โIf sheโs not like me, who is she like? Sheโs my daughter!โ Declan snorted.
Charles chuckled, โYes, your biological daughter!โ He emphasized โbiological daughter,โ clearly amused.
Declan coughed, looking annoyed. He leaned closer to Charles. โDonโt joke about this at home. We donโt want Elizabeth to know!โ
โGot it.โ Charles placed the last chess piece and changed the subject. โI lost. Iโm going to find Elizabeth!โ He headed to the limack yard.
Declan watched him, uneasy. If this ever gets out, itโll be Charles who spills the beans! How did he find out back then?!
