Chapter 74

Now it was Britney who looked completely shaken. Serena had been gushing about how handsome the CEO of the Westgate Group was, but when she turned back, she noticed Britney's face; pale and frightened.

“What’s wrong with you?”

Britney clenched Serena’s wrist tightly, her grip trembling.

“Who scared you?” Serena asked, her voice laced with concern.

“Dww Dawson,” Britney stammered, struggling to say the name.

“You know him?” Serena, who had a weakness for good-looking men, found her interest in Dawson instantly piqued.

Britney’s face turned even paler. “Yes, he… he’s my brother…” she whispered, reluctant to admit this terrifying truth. “I’m serious. I’m not lying. We just have different mothers.”

For a moment, Serena said nothing.

Britney grew impatient. “Hey, why aren’t you saying anything?!”

Serena let out a quiet sigh. “I’m a little jealous of you.”

“Hmph, haven’t you always been jealous of me? I finally get why you’re so bold. One of your brothers is part of Clercestia’s elite, and the other’s a powerful figure in Havenmoor.”

With that kind of backing, who would dare mess with her?

Britney felt nothing for Dawson. She shook her head, her face still pale. “The one from Clerestia? If you want to call him your brother, go ahead. I don’t care about him at all.”

Serena watched silently.

The charity dinner, years ago, Joanne had launched a charitable initiative to build high schools for girls in impoverished mountain regions. All the funds raised tonight would go toward that project. Jeanne hosted the main proceedings of the dinner. She shared that girls’ high schools had already been built over the past three years, and plans were underway to construct a hundred more. The project also aimed to improve the quality of education and students’ learning conditions.

The venue was arranged with numerous round tables, with the two at the center reserved for the Westgate Group and the Caldwell Group. A few seats at the Westgate Group’s table were still empty. Autumn and Jamie exchanged glances, then dialed for Olia to join them. Moments later, Olivia arrived, and Jamie introduced her to several people. Charming and effortlessly sociable, Olivia quickly hit it off with Ico, a well-known social powerhouse. The two were soon deep in animated conversation. Kobin joined in shortly after.

News of Olivia offending the Caldwell Group had spread like wildfire over the past few days, causing many companies planning to partner with MegaTech to reconsider. And what do you know! Olivia was actually seated at Dawson’s table—the main table. Her seat was right in the center, making it impossible to miss her. Many CEOs eager to get close to Queson instantly saw an opportunity. They might not be able to reach him directly, but having a connection to someone who could was just as valuable. Suddenly, it all made sense. No wonder Olivia had dared to go up against the Caldwell Group. She clearly had strong ties with the top brass at Westgate Group. The quicker ones were already instructing their assistants to hand Olivia business cards and set up meetings after the event.

Dawson, aware of Autumn’s connection to Olivia, subtly planned a talk. She caught his look and met his gaze; his usually cool eyes tinged with apology. Dawson coldly looked away.

Olivia noticed the exchange and felt a pang of concern. She wanted to speak up for Autumn, but with that scumbag Damien and the backstabbing Emilia sitting at the next table, she had to hold back. Autumn pulled out her phone and quickly messaged Olia: “Don’t worry about me. C’est la vie.”

Autumn was the first woman bold enough to use him, the kind that could only see the best in people. Biro, driven by a desire not to miss out on the drama, leaned in and whispered, “What a clever little tactic! You two are hiring!”

In Kalite, she was happy with her life. Hei Okula was sitting right next to Auluma.

They must know each other.
