Listen to this chapter:

Why had Hamann mentioned this to her?

“Hall-Mathers,” Jayden added. “Their relationship is awful.”

Emila only looked at Dawson with a hint of regret. Sae, she wanted to meet exceptional men, but only the kind she had a real shot with. She wasn’t naive enough to risk offending Damien, especially when she wasn’t even sure she could get…

Besides, Damien was already at the top of Havenmoor’s social elite. There were hardly any guests here today who could surpass him. The glances she received from both men and women were filled with envy, and Ema basked in every bit of it. Especially Autumn. The moment their eyes met, Autumn quickly looked away, unable to hold her gaze for even a second.

Besides, the more exceptional a man was, the higher his standards. Dawson’s cold, distant demeanor suggested he didn’t pay much attention to anyone, male or female. Emilia couldn’t get close to him; no other woman could either.

She was about to avert her gaze when she became still. Autumn had straightened her back and was now walking over to sit beside Dawson. Emilia’s brow furrowed, her expression twisting in disgust.

Was Autumn out of her mind? What could have possibly provoked her to act so recklessly? Damien was right there! Was she seriously going to disrespect him so openly, just to win favor with Dawson? What a foolish woman.

Jayden had noticed too. He exchanged a look with Emilia. Their thoughts were exactly the same. Barry, however, was stunned. What was Autumn’s connection to Dawson? Damien had no interest in Dunson. Just seeing the man was enough to ruin his mood.

But he hadn’t expected Autumn to actually push his limits like this. Damien’s expression darkened. Scott quickly offered, “Ma. Caldwell, pull her away.”

Damien replied coldly, “Are you not worried about the embarrassment?” Scott immediately understood that very few people knew about Autumn’s relationship with Damien. He walked over with a flicker of confusion in his eyes. But his disgust toward Autumn had never been stronger. What a pathetic woman, always making a fool of herself.

Dunden, uncharacteristically, held Autumn’s gaze for a prolonged moment—the most genuine attention he’d offered her in what felt like forever. If she was trying to get his attention, she had certainly succeeded. But instead of impressing him, her action had only enraged him. He had clearly underestimated her audacity.

Still, that anger faded almost as quickly as it came. In the end, no matter what Autumn did, Damien just didn’t care. She wasn’t worth another glance.

Someone led Dawson forward, expression steady and composed. Despite his youth, Dawson carried himself with a calm, detached air, no matter who he was dealing with. Januunt was well aware of this. Even in front of someone like Hank, Dawson never lost his cool. Though he might speak a little more than usual, he was generally too indifferent to say much at all.

Positioning himself just behind him, AUTH quietly got to work. Meanwhile, Jange remained at Jung’s side. When someone came over to call, Autumn moved closer to Dawson and whispered the person’s name into his ear with precise clarity. The information, however obscure, was something Aurum had committed to memory thanks to her photographic memory. This was to make Damien, who had been about to leave, reconsider.
