Chapter 60

Live walked over to the display shelf, having noticed Autumn glancing at it earlier. He pointed at Polaris and teased, “You gave that to him, didn’t you?”

Autumn admitted it. Barn would no doubt start imagining all sorts of dramatic scenarios. She simply replied, “Na.”

“Are you sure?”

Autumn could barely elerate Rice, but she still managed a polite smile. “Mr. Salazar, your imagination is truly impressive. But no, I really didn’t give that to Mr. Faulkner.” This time, she didn’t wait for his response. She turned and left the house.

Rice stared at the closed door and smirked. He picked up Polaris, flipping the cup over to reveal its name engraved in Turalish. He set it back on the shelf. Hestix told him he was right, but Autumn’s calm, unreadable expression gave nothing away. She was like a seasoned fox—sharp and composed. Unable to resist, he immediately called Dawson.

Dawson answered. His voice clipped, “Yes?”

Though he detected the cold tone, he pressed on. “Did Autumn really not give you Polaris?”

On the other end, Dawson frowned. “Are you at my place?”

Rico grinned at the implication in his voice. “Not only am I here, but I also ran into Autumn. Løven asked if the two of you are living together.”

Then, the call ended abruptly without a word from Dawson.

Ron Hanked in surprise and irritation. The line was now engaged. www.Dawam was really being prissy.

Rico had come to town to attend a charity dinner at Magnolia Hall the next night. Since he had no plans to stay at a hotel, he figured he’d crash at Dawson’s place. He made himself comfortable on the couch and called the regional reps of several luxury brands he favored. He had them deliver a few suits he’d seen online to Dawson’s address so he could try them on.

As he listed his calls, there was a knock at the door. Rico was stunned. Had the suits arrived already? He opened the door, only to hear, “The owner contacted us. You need to leave the premises immediately.”

At first, Rico was confused. Then he smiled as he realized what was happening. It was Dawson’s doing. Three stern-faced security guards glared at him as if he were a thief.

Still, Rico detetauge. He obediently stepped outside. Once the door was shut, the guards continued watching him closely, wary of any attempts to sneak back in. With a shameless grin, he said, “Let me in just one time.”

The punched in the rod—a mechanical beep sounded, indicating his attempt to unlock the door had failed. While outwardly calm, Rico kept his cool, flashed the guards a grin, and called back coolly, “Let’s go.”

Wanting to turn home, she was told Damien would be back for dinner. She had waited all afternoon for Autumn to show up, but she never came. In the end, Houtta koken against, she’d tried to dodge the task and had called Autumn, but just like before, the call didn’t go through. Frustrated but left with no choice, she reluctantly prepared dinner.

Damian arrived just before dinner time. She was intimidated by him. She would serve the food and leave quietly. But today, she lingered. Damien had cotized, but she was acting strangely, so he asked, “What is 187?”

Huerta paned to speak, but then thought better of it. Alingby mastered the cow is Caldwell this lotion.

Damian didn’t seem to notice. He didn’t even look interested. A custom-made ut. I thought it was lost to you, but Mix Caldwell hadn’t yet tamed him. Dunden tabed anepriam. So…

Bessing his growing impatience, he went on to explain. “I asked the shop owner. The suit had decent measurements from yours. I couldn’t help but wonder… could Mrs. Caldwell be…?”
