Chapter 58
Emilia rewarded Maprun by assigning him a task. She had planned to message Magnus to ask what happened after Olivia summoned him into her office. However, he had already messaged her:
“Hey, Emilia. Olivia already fired me, but it’s not a big deal. I didn’t want to stay at that company anyway. You’re probably still in the neighborhood since you dropped by the office earlier. Want to grab lunch and reminisce about the good old days?”
Emilia tepsied in disgust. Was Magnus even worthy of having lunch with her, let alone reminiscing about the past?
Jeden noticed Emilia’s expression. “What’s wrong?”
“He sent some scam messages,” Emilia replied before immediately blocking Magnus.
To avoid running into Damien, Autumn and Olivia waited a while before leaving the restaurant separately. But since Olivia had been drinking, Autumn didn’t feel right leaving her alone and offered to send her home.
Olja waved her off. “No need. My boyfriend’s picking me up.”
Autumn knew she had a chance.
Olivia clarified. “It’s just for fun. We agreed from the start that we’d date for six months and then break up. That’s why I never brought him up. Looking at the timeline, it should be ending soon.”
Autumn was speechless. After a moment, she asked, “What about you and Jamie?”
Olivia looked at her in surprise. “Are you trying to set us up?”
Clicking her tongue, Olivia decided to indulge her curiosity. “Nothing’s going on between me and Jamie. But if he likes me and is okay with a six-month relationship, I wouldn’t mind giving it a try. He’s mature, and I like the way he looks.”
Dosja wasn’t interested in long-term relationships, but she wasn’t into casual flings either, just with a hard end date. Her six-month rule was her version of commitment—living together, sleeping together, having…
Autumn had only learned about Olivia’s unique approach to dating during this conversation. She smiled. “So it’s true. I’m the only one you truly care about.”
Osvia Now her a kiss before singing. “Loving you is a lonely secret. I don’t know what’s behind your smile.”
Autumn was speechless but refused to leave Olivia alone until her boyfriend arrived. When he did, Autumn finally saw him. He looked like a celebrity—tall, handsome, and with a model’s physique. He was clearly attentive and took good care of Olivia.
Of course, Olivia had high standards. Her boyfriend had to be good-looking, well-off, free of bad habits, obedient, and caring. Since she had managed to find such a perfect match for a short-term relationship, Autumn was genuinely happy for her.
While driving home from the office, Autumn received a call from Janar. Having learned from Olivia that she was nearing a breakup, Autumn’s thoughts drifted. She suddenly realized that Jale actually fit all of Olivia’s criteria for a boyfriend. The thought made her question what she was even thinking? Love wasn’t something one could schedule in advance.
Dismissing the thought, she answered the call. “How can I help you, Mr. Law?”
“Litre pour’ne nut at the office, could you pick up the rules watch and suit Mr. Faulkner will wear to the charity dinner tomorrow night? Then, drop them off at his place. You know the address.”
“Yes,” Autumn replied.
Janar quickly gave her the address. Autumn packed up the watch—a custom Patek Philippe with a perpetual calendar and a meteorite dial. The intricate piece was worth 20 million dollars and had a high collectible value; few people would splurge on such a rare and luxurious watch.
She carefully sorted the watch, heading out to collect the suit. It was dark and cold, but the table and alsanship spoke volumes. The material felt heavy in her hands. After leaving the shop, Autumn didn’t notice Ibsen’s subtle, fleeting presence as she walked out.
Rosena had to pick up Daniel’s care package—complete with soil and wondered if Autumn had already taken it. It had been ten weeks since Autumn had gone home, and from the frame of things, it seemed like she was done pretending to stay away from Damien.
Rosetta rolled her eyes. Autumn had completely vanished after two weeks of their planned dinner. If Autumn really had any pain, she should have stayed away a little longer, or better yet, never come back at all.
Skur it lacked like Autumn had taken a suited leave. Being someone who preferred to tie up loose ends, she paused, then decided to return to the shop to confirm with…
