Chapter 54
None of that mattered anymore. The outcome was all that counted. Olivia had refused to give in to Emilia, completely humiliating her. Since Emilia was thoroughly displeased with how things had turned out, Olivia would have to face the consequences. Emilia’s phone was ringing. She took a moment to compose herself before answering. Her note reread nothing; Emilia was excellent at concealing her true emotions—it was a way to maintain the upper hand.
“Imita, you’re a real asset to the company. Alter your visit to Clements; she emailed me saying she’s open to collaboration. The timeline’s been moved up—just half a month! That’s two weeks ahead of schedule!”
Emilia froze. Then, in a steady voice, she replied, “I’m just doing my job. I also hope the project will proceed smoothly.”
“Thank you for your effort. I spoke to Ms. Clements at length yesterday, and she rejected me flat out. I didn’t even get a chance to change her mind. But with you, everything’s different. You deserve the credit for this breakthrough.”
Luther continued. “I’ve already informed the entire project team. Everyone’s very excited. No need to rush back, okay? Grab lunch first. Once you’re back this afternoon, we’ll celebrate at…”
Emilia replied, “Okay, Professor Hulinan.”
Once the call ended, she sighed in relief. There had been a risk the failed meeting would be exposed, but Olivia likely didn’t care enough to mention something so trivial.
Emilia had made lunch plans with Damien, so she walked toward the café. Earlier, she had asked Jayden to wait there for her. First, she didn’t want Jayden to know she had come to MegaTech to ask for Olivia’s help, and second, her instincts told her not to bring him along. Her intuition had proven spot-on. If he had been there, it would have been humiliating.
Emilia intentionally looked unsettled as she approached Jayden. He was about to speak when he noticed her expression. “What’s wrong?”
“Let’s talk over lunch,” Emilia replied, clearly not in the mood for small talk.
Jayden realized he wasn’t going to meet the creator of Lugi-X after all. Disappointed, he lost his appetite. “Forget it.”
Ceila teowned slightly. “I already told them we’d join him for lunch.”
Jayden thought for a moment before changing his mind. “Fine, let’s go.”
The two of them left the café together. Only then did Emilia message Damien to inform him that Jayden would be joining them.
Aerla fed Magnus so suddenly, Autumn grew curious. Had Olivia discovered something about her former senior? “Win a your person?” she asked.
Olivia mysteriously replied, “Let’s head to Silverwood Restaurant. We can enjoy the view and feast on lobster. I’ll explain over lunch.”

Fazy gidences overload the liver, and Autumn’s apartment was on the top floor.
“Kia Kiew, DogTH stay with me sometime,”
Autumn offered, “I don’t mind dropping by occasionally,” Olivia replied with a smile, taking a sip of her wine.
Since Autumn was driving, she abstained from drinking. Halfway through her glass, Olivia began recounting what had happened earlier, from meeting Emilia to their conversation and how it ultimately…

At the mention of Dessin, Autunu’s expression suddenly changed. “Tju left—”
Unlike at the racetrack, Autumn didn’t appear upset or tearful. She remained composed and expressionless.
