Chapter 71

Claireโ€™s tone dripped with mockery and contempt, instantly making Amber see red.

โ€œClaire, why do you act so close to Sienna? Shut up,โ€ Amber fumed, wondering, โ€˜How dare she? What right does she have to be so close to Sienna?โ€™ Amber had completely ignored Claireโ€™s words, but the moment she heard Claire address Sienna with that tone, her blood boiled.

Claire sneered, โ€œSienna said we are friends. Itโ€™s none of your business, Amber. Sienna had my back yesterday and even praised me to my face.โ€ Amber clenched her teeth, her eyes blazing with fury.

โ€œAmber, if it werenโ€™t for Sienna, I wouldnโ€™t even bother with a moron like you. Hereโ€™s a friendly tip: donโ€™t let her play you for a sucker. Youโ€™re so dense,โ€ Claire warned.

Claire turned to leave, but Amber strode over and blocked her path. โ€œHold it right there. What exactly do you mean by that?โ€

Yesterday, when Claire saw Mia tear up that letter, suspicion arose. After overhearing their conversation, everything clicked. Claire instantly understood what was really going on.

Claire looked at Amber, who was very cute, with pretty eyes tinged with gentle anger. Her lips were plump and inviting. Without any makeup, Amber was incredibly beautiful, and her short hair only enhanced her charm.

Amberโ€™s puffed-up, angry-cute expression unexpectedly tugged at Claireโ€™s heartstrings. โ€˜Damn it,โ€™ Claire cursed inwardly, finding herself unable to deliver the scathing remarks sheโ€™d planned.

Claire began, โ€œAmber, are you truly clueless or just playing dumb? Canโ€™t you see Mia has been targeting you all along? That love letter was clearly meant to humiliate you. And those people who blocked you yesterday? Theyโ€™re all her close friends. Donโ€™t tell me you really believe it was just a coincidence?โ€

Amber froze for a moment, caught off guard. โ€˜Is Claire really implying that Mia has set me up? No way. Mia is my best friend. Weโ€™re really close friends. No way Mia would ever do that to me,โ€™ she thought.

โ€œClaire, cut the crap with your discord-sowing. Donโ€™t think I donโ€™t see what youโ€™re up to. Youโ€™re just bitter about yesterdayโ€™s beating, so now youโ€™re trying to ruin my friendship with Mia? Well, Iโ€™m not buying it, so give it up.โ€ With that, Amber stormed off.

Claire thought, โ€˜Iโ€™ve never met a girl this hopelessly dense, dumber than a brick. Anyone with half a brain could have figured it out. She really thinks Iโ€™m the one trying to come between her and Mia? Ruin their friendship? As if I have nothing better to do. Ungrateful brat, canโ€™t even tell whoโ€™s really on her side. What an idiot.'

โ€œIdiot, if it wasnโ€™t her doing, then why was your name on that love letter?โ€ Claire snapped. With that, she also turned on her heel and walked away.

Amber slowed her steps. Yesterday, the letter had been snatched away in the chaos, but sheโ€™d managed to grab it back. Her eyes skimmed over it, and there was Amberโ€™s name, written clearly on the envelope.

โ€˜Why would Mia write my name? Wasnโ€™t Mia supposed to confess to Adrian? By all rights, the letter shouldโ€™ve had her name on it, not mine,โ€™ Amber wondered.

Amber puzzled over it all class but couldnโ€™t figure it out, so she simply stopped thinking about it.

At a coffee shop near the school gate, Susan and Sienna sat across from each other at the small table.

Susan nervously sipped her coffee, nothing like her usual stern homeroom teacher self. For some reason, she couldnโ€™t understand why Sienna made her so anxious.

Sienna waved her hand dismissively, signaling Lana to leave.

Lana gave a respectful nod, opened the door, and took up her post outside.

โ€œSusan, thereโ€™s no need for me to reintroduce myself. Iโ€™ll be direct. I understand that both your daughters applied to Fellington University overseas, but unfortunately, they were rejected for various reasons,โ€ said Sienna.

Susan was visibly shocked and a bit embarrassed. Sienna was right. For families like Susanโ€™s, there was just no way to get into Fellington University on grades alone.

โ€œYes, Miss Hart,โ€ Susan nodded.

Susan came from humble beginnings. In Vallaris, where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold, she was just another ordinary face. Her greatest accomplishment was landing a job as a teacher at this elite school. But inevitably, she was stuck with the worst-performing class, the one no other teacher would take.
