Chapter 384
Nathan pulled Vivian to her feet and guided her to the glass table. He opened the food containers one by one, and the aroma of freshly cooked pasta and savory meat filled the air, instantly making her mouth water. Just moments ago, Vivian hadnโt felt hungry, but now, with those delicious smells, her stomach rumbled like an empty drum. She gave an awkward smile. โThanks.โ
Nathan handed her a fork. โNo need to thank me. Iโve staked half my fortune on you. You canโt afford to fail.โ Vivian took a bite of pasta and mumbled, โRelax, I can only succeedโfailureโs not an option.โ Their shadows overlapped on the wall, looking especially warm and intimate. Nathan looked down at her, his eyes soft with a tenderness Vivian didnโt notice. As he watched her, a smile crept onto his face without him realizing it.
Vivian glanced at him in confusion. โWhat are you smiling about?โ Nathan replied, โYouโve got some meat sauce at the corner of your mouth.โ โOh, really?โ Vivian reached up to wipe it off, but Nathan beat her to it, his fingers gently brushing her cheek. The unexpected touch made them both freeze. Their eyes met for a split second before Vivian quickly looked away, and Nathan cleared his throat awkwardly. โSorry,โ he muttered. โItโs fine. Letโs eat,โ Vivian said quickly. โOkay.โ Nathan nodded awkwardly.
Three days later, Vivian returned home and was surprised by a number of new faces. โAre you all new here?โ she asked curiously. โYes, Ms. Hart,โ one of them replied. Vivian thought, โDidnโt we already have enough staff? Why are there so many more people now?โ โMove aside,โ a voice called out from behind her. It was Amber.
Vivian grabbed Amberโs arm. โWait, why are there so many people at home? Whatโs all this about?โ Amber pulled her hand away, looking curious. โWhat else could it be? Theyโre here to work, obviously. You havenโt been home for days. I thought you moved out.โ โIโve just been a bit busy lately,โ Vivian replied.
โSienna, youโre home too?โ Vivian called out, spotting Sienna and striding over. Amber reached out to stop her. โDonโt get too closeโSiennaโs got a baby on the way.โ โWhat? Wait, what?โ Vivianโs eyes widened in shock. โSienna, are you really pregnant?โ Vivian blurted out. โYes,โ Sienna replied.
Vivian stood there, shocked. โSiennaโs actually pregnant?โ she thought. โSoโฆ whose baby is it?โ Vivian blurted out. Amber was equally curious, staring at Sienna with wide, eager eyes. They both guessed it was probably Julianโs, but since Sienna hadnโt spoken, anything was possible.
โItโs mine.โ Julian strode over to Sienna, slipped an arm around her waist, and declared, โThe baby is mine.โ Vivianโs eyes widened. โBut you two arenโt even married. How could you justโโ She thought, โSure, having a baby before marriage isnโt that rare, but Julian hasnโt even proposed. Isnโt that just acting like a total scumbag?โ
A flicker of sadness crossed Julianโs face. โItโs my fault. Lโฆโ Before he could finish, Sienna cut him off. โIโm the one who doesnโt want to get married.โ Hearing it was Siennaโs decision, Vivian didnโt argue. โMaybe itโs for the best. The baby will belong to the Hart family,โ she thought. She was more than willing to take care of the baby.
โSienna, marriage is nothing but shacklesโitโs a grave. Iโll always support you,โ Vivian said, her eyes full of determination. Sienna smiled. โHow have you been lately?โ
