Chapter 379
โSienna, Iโm starving! Iโve been on a plane for more than ten hours,โ Thorn whined, his eyes wide.
Sienna sighed and glanced at Elisa, who finally served him a bowl of rice. Julian, picking up a piece of sweet and sour fish, placed it on Siennaโs plate. โSienna, try this. We have sweet and sour fish tonight,โ he said, pointedly ignoring Thorn.
Thorn didnโt mind being ignored. Genuinely starving, he devoured the food, finding it amazing. He scarfed down three bowls of rice, then picked up stray grains from the table. โIs there any more rice? Give me another bowl!โ
Finally full, he flopped onto the couch. โSienna, you have no idea. The doctor said I was this close to dying!โ
Sienna, sitting at the table, paused mid-movement. She didnโt reply.
โSienna, guess Iโm just lucky to be alive, right?โ Thorn prompted, seeking a reaction. She remained silent. He didnโt mind, rambling on unconcernedly while Julian listened.
Thorn stayed late, only leaving because Julian departed first; otherwise, he probably would have stayed until morning. As Julian was leaving, Thorn called out, โHey, Julian, stop right there!โ
Julian stopped and turned. โI know youโve been staying here these days,โ Thorn said.
โYeah,โ Julian replied.
โCan you talk to her? See if sheโll let me stay here too?โ Thorn asked.
Julian frowned, his voice icy. โThorn.โ
Thorn shrugged. โRelax, I was just joking. But hey, Iโm not giving up that easily.โ
The next day, Sienna attended a business event. By the time it ended, dusk had fallen. She wore flats, but felt unusually tired.
Suddenly, a girl yelled, โSienna! You hit my mom, didnโt you? How could you!โ
A girl in a purple dress, with short hair and narrow eyes, rushed toward Sienna, poised to shove her. Miss Sienna Lana had gone to get the car, and in that instant, Tanya Duncan charged at Sienna. Sienna was about to dodge when her vision blacked out, and she began to collapse. Thom reacted instantly, catching her before she hit the floor.
Taniya froze, terrified, her face pale. She waved her hands frantically, shaking her head. โIt wasnโt me. I didnโt do anything! I didnโt even touch her!โ
โOh, I see whatโs going on. Youโre pulling a scam! Trying to play the victim, huh?โ Tanya shouted.
Thorn glared at Tanya. โIf anything happens to her, I swear Iโll feed you to the fish!โ
Tanyaโs face paled further, and she trembled. โNo, it wasnโt me!โ she cried. โSomebody mustโve seen what happened. I swear, I didnโt even touch her,โ she insisted.
She looked around, but everyone avoided her gaze and hurried away. โHey, wait! You guys have to back me up!โ she called after them. โDonโt go! Werenโt you all supposed to be helpful and friendly? Thatโs so cold!โ
Thorn scooped Sienna into his arms and carried her to the car. โArrest her,โ Lana ordered coldly.
โNo, donโt arrest me! Please, donโt!โ Tanya cried, protesting her innocence as she was dragged away. She was close to tears, but none fell.
If Iโd known, I never wouldโve come back. Who knew scam artists were everywhere here? Vallaris is just full of shady tricks, Tanya thought.
โDoctor! Doctor, hurry! You have to save her!โ Thorn shouted, his voice echoing through the hospital corridor. He burst in, Sienna in his arms, panic etched on his face.
โSir, please calm down and let us take care of her,โ the doctor said, trying to calm him.
Thorn was a nervous wreck, his hands trembling violently. โYou have to save her,โ he pleaded, his voice cracking with fear.
Sienna, please be okay, Thom thought anxiously.
