Chapter 364
There was a heavy, dark cloud hanging over Hudson. Even with his mask on, Jaxon could feel the strong killing intent radiating from him.
Jaxon felt a chill run down his spine and rubbed his arms. Why does the weather feel so chilly and unpredictable today? he wondered.
โJaxon, this is for you,โ Amber said as she handed him the box.
Jaxon opened it and found a luxurious black watch inside. It looked expensive.
โAmber, this gift is way too expensive. I really donโt know what I canโฆโ Jaxon said, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Before he could finish, Amber cut him off. โLike I said, itโs a gift for you. I donโt want anything in return.โ
With a loud thud, Hudson suddenly let go of all the bags he was carrying for Amber.
The bags tumbled to the floor, and even the pink suitcase crashed down with them.
Amber was startled. She hurriedly bent down to pick up the things. She lost her cool and snapped, โHudson, what the hell is wrong with you? These are my things! Are you crazy or something?โ
Hudson said coldly, โMy timeโs up. I donโt have to work for you anymore.โ
With that, he strode off without looking back.
Amber was furious. She watched his retreating back and yelled at the top of her lungs, โHudson! You heartless bastard! Is this how you do business? Iโm never hiring you again, you jerk! Youโre insane!โ
But Hudson was already long gone. Jaxon helped her pick up her things. โAmber, donโt be mad. Iโll take you home.โ
โOkay, Jaxon. Youโre so much nicer,โ Amber said, calming down a bit.
Hudson kicked a bottle aside and spotted a couple of kids tossing bottles around near the trash can.
With a stormy look on his face, he marched over. โHey! What are you doing?โ
The kids turned around and saw this towering man in black shades, looking absolutely terrifying. They instantly burst into tears.
Hudson warned them, โIf I catch you littering again, Iโll spank you till you canโt sit down.โ
The kids ran off bawling and screaming, searching for their moms.
The more Hudson thought about it, the more pissed off he got. Heโd spent all of last night convinced that the watch Amber bought was meant for him.
โDamn it, turns out it was for that snot-nosed brat Jaxon! And she had the nerve to call me heartless? Sheโs the real heartless one!โ he fumed.
Alex got a call from Hudson and hurried over. โMr. Grant?โ
โWhat took you so long? Do you have any idea how long Iโve been waiting?โ Hudson snapped.
Alex was startled. Has Mr. Grant gone off the deep end? Why is his temper so explosive today?
โY-yes, itโs my fault, Boss. Please, get in the car,โ Alex stammered.
โDid you see Amber?โ Hudson asked, his face frosty. Since Alex came from that direction, he was sure Alex mustโve run into Amber.
Alex replied honestly, โOh, Miss Amber? Yeah, I saw her. Some guy came to pick her up. Probably her boyfriend, I guess.โ
As soon as the words left his mouth, he met Hudsonโs face, which was now as grim as a storm-cloaked night. Alex shivered all over.
Did I just say something wrong? No way, I donโt think I did, Alex thought, feeling a little uneasy.
โBoyfriend? Did she say that to you herself?โ Hudson shot back, his tone icy.
Alex gave an awkward smile. โNo, not really. That was just my guess.โ
Before he could finish, Hudson snapped, โWho asked for your opinion? That little punkโs barely out of diapers. Tell me, what could Amber possibly see in a guy like him?โ
Oh, Alex suddenly realized what was going on.
Mr. Grantโs totally jealous, he thought.
Alex quickly backpedaled, saying, โThat guy looks pretty average. He canโt hold a candle to you. Between the two of you, Amber would totally go for you.โ
Hearing that, Hudson finally looked a little less pissed.
โHeโs not even in the same league as me. If Amber actually likes him, she must be blindโa total fool,โ Hudson muttered.
