Chapter 346
Reno was right. If they slept together, it would mean marriage. She had no desire to be shackled to a childish, obsessed madman.
โSir, I have the report. Eleanor Yeast has always had it out for Mrs. Ford. Earlier, there was a confrontation with Victor Noir. He and his people are gone now, and Mrs. Ford has Eleanor locked up, but something seems wrong with Eleanorโs condition,โ Clark said.
Julian stared out the window at the full moon. โExplain.โ
Clark continued, โAs she was being dragged away, she was grabbing at the legs of the men around her. It looked like she was poisoned. After a thorough investigation, I discovered she purchased Lustbane. She must have been planning to use it on Mrs. Ford.โ
Julian shot to his feet. โWhere is she now!โ
โMrs. Ford is at a villa in the suburbs. Her aide, Reno, has been researching eighteen-year-old, physically fit menโjust looking for now; no action has been taken. Also, Thorn Noir is heading that way.โ
Clark finished his report and kept his head down, afraid of the storm about to break.
Sienna had been poisoned. And if she didnโt want to suffer permanent damage, she would have to use that method.
โGo,โ Julian ordered, his voice dangerously low. โGet Thorn into a hospital. Just make sure you donโt kill him.โ
Clark looked up. โAnd you, sir?โ
Julianโs face was a dark mask of fury. โDo I have to report my whereabouts to you now?โ
โNo, no, of course not,โ Clark replied, backing away with a tight smile, thinking, "As if I donโt know where youโre going. The manโs got no self-awareness. Sheโs looking for an eighteen-year-old stud, and youโre twenty-eight. Can you even perform? An old man..."
Clark snorted in disdain. The boss really doesnโt know his own limits.
Thorn knew Lustbane was no joke. Even with Siennaโs army of talented people, without taking the natural route, the drug would leave its mark on her body.
He slammed his foot on the accelerator. As he rounded a corner, a car shot out of nowhere. He had no time to swerve before it slammed into him.
Thorn was seeing red. Blind idiot. Doesnโt know how to drive.
He scrambled out of the wreck, his hand coming away from his head sticky with blood. He gritted his teeth and roared, โCouldnโt you see the red light? Are you blind? Donโt you have fucking eyes?โ
A disguised Clark, now appearing as a woman, scurried over to Thorn.
โOh, sir, Iโm so, so sorry! Oh my god, youโre bleeding! Iโll take you to the hospital,โ Clark said.
Thorn shoved his supporting hand away. โDonโt need it. Get lost.โ
He had to get to Sienna. He didnโt have time to waste on this.
โSir, I canโt run away from my responsibility. I insist on taking you to the hospital. Come on, if something happens to you, I donโt want to go to jail.โ
Clark practically manhandled him, forcing him into the car.
Thorn was trembling with rage, a vein throbbing in his temple. His head was pounding.
โIโm telling youโโ
Clark interrupted, โSir, your head is still bleeding. Here, let me wrap it with my scarf.โ
