Chapter 252

Sienna took just a few seconds to steady herself. โ€œItโ€™s nothing, really. I was just wondering if Vivian and Amber made it home yet. Winifred, can you text Reno and check for me?โ€

Sienna had no idea if someone had messed with the car or if something else was going on.

โ€œTheyโ€™re both home, Sienna,โ€ Winifred replied.

When Sienna heard Winifredโ€™s words, she finally let out a breath she didnโ€™t realize sheโ€™d been holding.

She gave a faint smile, her eyes still cool and unruffled. "Thereโ€™s no point in panicking or being scared right now,โ€ she told herself.

โ€œWinifred, do you trust me?โ€ Sienna asked, her tone calm but serious.

Winifred answered without a second thought, โ€œOf course I do, Sienna. I trust you no matter what.โ€

A hint of comfort flickered in Siennaโ€™s eyes. โ€œAlright, buckle up. Iโ€™m about to show you how I drive when I go all out.โ€

The car swerved off its original route, accelerating wildly as Sienna tore up the mountain road and shot straight onto the racing track. She called Reno and filled her in on what was happening.

Renoโ€™s heart thundered in her chest. After hanging up, her hands shook so badly she almost dropped her phone. Reno forced herself to steady up. โ€œEveryone, hurry up,โ€ she shouted.

โ€œYes,โ€ they replied.

By this point, even Winifred realized what was going on. โ€œSienna, is there something wrong with the car?โ€

Sienna stayed perfectly calm, as if she were just talking about the weather. โ€œYeah. But donโ€™t be scared. Iโ€™m here, and like I said, nothingโ€™s going to happen.โ€

Winifred couldnโ€™t help but laugh, โ€œAnd like I said, I trust you no matter what.โ€

The two of them shared a smile.

After what felt like forever of circling the winding road, Sienna seized the perfect moment and shouted, โ€œWinifred, trust me. Jump.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€ Winifred didnโ€™t hesitate for even a heartbeat. She launched herself out of the car, but it was going way too fast. She couldnโ€™t grab the roadside poles and went tumbling straight down the mountainside.

As Winifred rolled, the steep drop below made fear grip her heart, and her head started to spin.

Right at the last second, just as Winifred was about to slide even further down, a hand shot out and grabbed her, hauling her back up.

โ€œSienna?โ€ Winifred choked out, her voice trembling.

Winifred flashed a bright smile โ€“ relief washing over her. They were both safe. But as she grinned, she suddenly felt something sticky on her hand. When she opened her palm, she realized it was blood.

Her pupils dilated in shock. Winifred looked up at Sienna; her hand was covered in blood. โ€œSienna?โ€ Winifred gasped.

Sienna reached out and gently covered Winifredโ€™s eyes. โ€œDonโ€™t be scared. Iโ€™m fine,โ€ she said softly.

As she spoke, Sienna forced herself to swallow down the sweet, metallic taste of blood rising in her throat, refusing to let it show.

Winifredโ€™s eyelashes fluttered against Siennaโ€™s palm, tickling her skin.

When Reno finally arrived, her face went pale. โ€œMiss Enna?โ€ she called out, panic written all over her features.

Siennaโ€™s back was a bloody, mangled mess, her leg obviously broken and soaked in blood. Her clothes hung in tatters from her arms and shoulders, exposing raw, bleeding wounds everywhere.

โ€œIโ€™m fine. Letโ€™s get to the hospital,โ€ Sienna said, her voice steady as ever.

Sienna kept her hand firmly over Winifredโ€™s eyes, determined not to let her see any of this. Her palm grew wet with tears; Winifred was crying.

โ€œSienna, itโ€™s my fault. I dragged you into this. Iโ€™m a monster. I never shouldโ€™ve been born. Sienna, I deserve to die. You must be in so much pain,โ€ Winifred sobbed, her voice breaking.

From the fear in Renoโ€™s voice, Winifred was certain Siennaโ€™s injuries were serious.

โ€œDonโ€™t say such nonsense. Youโ€™re my sister, my family. If youโ€™re a monster, then so am I,โ€ Sienna said calmly, her comforting voice slowly piecing together the shattered remains of Winifredโ€™s guilt-ridden heart.

โ€œSienna, Iโ€“Mmph.โ€ Winifred groaned, a stabbing pain exploding in her head.

โ€˜Somethingโ€™s wrong, the chip,โ€™ Sienna realized.

โ€œWinifred, we need to get to the hospital right now,โ€ Sienna said urgently.

โ€œSienna...โ€ Winifred clung tightly to Siennaโ€™s hand, terrified this might be the last time she ever saw her. Tears streamed down her face as she stared at Sienna, trying to memorize every detail.

โ€œSienna, it hurts so much. Please, hold me,โ€ Winifred whimpered, her voice trembling with pain.

Blood started to trickle from Winifredโ€™s nose, mouth, and eyes, slowly blurring her vision. Even so, she managed a shaky smile at Sienna. โ€œSienna?โ€

Sienna gathered Winifred into her arms. โ€œTo the hospital, now."

โ€œYes, Miss Enna,โ€ Reno replied, flooring the accelerator. She swore this was the fastest sheโ€™d ever driven in her life.

Siennaโ€™s hands were shaking as she held Winifred. Reno caught a glimpse of her eyes; those eyes that were always so steady and composed, no matter what. Now, for the first time, they were filled with raw fear and panic.

โ€œFaster,โ€ Sienna barked, her voice sharp with urgency.

โ€œYes, Miss Enna. Three minutes โ€“ just three minutes to the hospital,โ€ Reno shouted, pressing the gas pedal down even harder.

โ€œSienna, let me really see you. Please,โ€ Winifred whispered, her voice barely more than a breath.

Winifred managed a bitter smile, but before her hand could reach Siennaโ€™s face, it fell limply to her side.

Sienna caught her hand, squeezing it tightly. โ€œWinifred, just rest for a bit. When you wake up, youโ€™ll see me again.โ€

โ€œIs everything ready?โ€ Sienna asked.

โ€œMiss Enna, Zane is already waiting. But youโ€™re really not in any condition to perform the surgery yourself. Maybe you should let Zane handle it โ€“ heโ€™s your junior. I-...โ€ Reno said.

Without a word, Sienna strode past Reno, carrying Winifred in her arms. Her white dress was soaked in blood, and if you looked closely, her bare feet were twisted and broken.

Siennaโ€™s back was covered in wounds as she carried the girl in black into the operating room.
