Chapter 240
Irisโs face darkened as she shot him a venomous glare.
โDamn it, I really miscalculated. Who wouldโve thought Sienna could be so meticulous, even bringing in an out-of-town doctor? He really doesnโt know how to play along, so stiff and unromantic,โ Iris fumed inwardly.
โDamn it," she cursed to herself. "Right now, she had no choice but to swallow her pride."
โIโm a doctor, too. Mr. Bayer once did me a favor, so I want to join this surgery to repay him. Could you please let me do this?โ she said. After saying that, Iris shot him a flirtatious glance.
Zane nearly lost his lunch. With a cold face, he sternly refused, โNo. You need to leave right now, or donโt blame me for throwing you out myself.โ
Iris was fuming. Sheโd already humbled herself this much, and he still didnโt give her the time of day. โWhat a blockhead,โ she grumbled to herself.
โI was brought in by the director. You have no right to kick me out. I have to stay for the surgery. Who even knows if youโre up to standard?โ she snapped.
Zane retorted bluntly, โEven if my dad brought you here, it wouldnโt matter. Iโm the only one who can treat him. Now beat it.โ
Iris was so furious she felt like she was about to explode; she completely lost her composure.
She shouted, โYouโre just some newbie doctor, and you dare talk to me like that? Donโt you want a future in Vallaris?"
โDo you even know who youโre talking to? Iโm ordering you to get out right now. Iโll be taking over this surgery. He really doesnโt know his place. With my connections, if he crosses me, he can forget about ever working in Vallaris. What a joke," she fumed inwardly.
โAh-" Zane walked straight over without a hint of hesitation, and with a crisp smack, landed a slap right across her face.
Iris was left completely dazed. Before she could even react, she was yanked up and tossed out of the operating room.
โWhere did this lunatic even come from?โ she muttered under her breath. Iris clutched her stinging, swollen cheek in utter, fiery pain, making her grit her teeth.
Her eyes went red with rage. โDamn it, he actually slapped me,' she fumed.
Just as she was about to kick the door, someone called out to her. โIs that you, Iris? What are you doing here?โ
Josef spotted Iris standing outside the operating room. He knew sheโd had a hand in Leoโs mess, but sheโd wiped her tracks so clean there was no proof tying her to it. Still, he was sure she was nothing but trouble.
โIโm a doctor. Whatโs wrong with being in a hospital?โ Iris fumed, with nowhere to vent her anger, and shot him a dirty look.
โYou might be a doctor, but you have no right to be in this operating room. You clearly have bad intentions. If you donโt get lost now, Iโll call the police,โ Josef said coldly.
โIs that any way to talk to a doctor?โ Iris shot back.
Josef rolled his eyes. โYouโre a doctor, not a god. Why should I worship you? Dream on. Besides, you donโt even act like a real doctor.
โYou give off such a dangerous vibe, not a shred of compassion. People like you are probably headed straight to hell.โ
Just because Josef didnโt expose her involvement in Leoโs mess didnโt mean he was an idiot. Leoโs connections werenโt that deep. Iris was definitely the one pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Iris clenched her fists, worried sheโd blow a fuse if she stayed any longer. She stomped off in her high heels, fuming:
"Damn the Bayer family. Damn Sienna. None of them is kind. Bunch of inhuman bastards. Just wait, all of you. Iโll make you pay for this, every last one of you,โ she swore to herself.
Realizing she couldnโt interfere with Calvinโs surgery, Iris stormed back to her office in a rage.
When a nurse came to ask her to see a patient, Iris shoved the nurse aside and snapped, โNot just anyone deserves to book an appointment with me. Tell them to get lost.โ
