Chapter 240

Irisโ€™s face darkened as she shot him a venomous glare.

โ€˜Damn it, I really miscalculated. Who wouldโ€™ve thought Sienna could be so meticulous, even bringing in an out-of-town doctor? He really doesnโ€™t know how to play along, so stiff and unromantic,โ€™ Iris fumed inwardly.

โ€œDamn it," she cursed to herself. "Right now, she had no choice but to swallow her pride."

โ€œIโ€™m a doctor, too. Mr. Bayer once did me a favor, so I want to join this surgery to repay him. Could you please let me do this?โ€ she said. After saying that, Iris shot him a flirtatious glance.

Zane nearly lost his lunch. With a cold face, he sternly refused, โ€œNo. You need to leave right now, or donโ€™t blame me for throwing you out myself.โ€

Iris was fuming. Sheโ€™d already humbled herself this much, and he still didnโ€™t give her the time of day. โ€œWhat a blockhead,โ€ she grumbled to herself.

โ€œI was brought in by the director. You have no right to kick me out. I have to stay for the surgery. Who even knows if youโ€™re up to standard?โ€ she snapped.

Zane retorted bluntly, โ€œEven if my dad brought you here, it wouldnโ€™t matter. Iโ€™m the only one who can treat him. Now beat it.โ€

Iris was so furious she felt like she was about to explode; she completely lost her composure.

She shouted, โ€œYouโ€™re just some newbie doctor, and you dare talk to me like that? Donโ€™t you want a future in Vallaris?"

โ€œDo you even know who youโ€™re talking to? Iโ€™m ordering you to get out right now. Iโ€™ll be taking over this surgery. He really doesnโ€™t know his place. With my connections, if he crosses me, he can forget about ever working in Vallaris. What a joke," she fumed inwardly.

โ€œAh-" Zane walked straight over without a hint of hesitation, and with a crisp smack, landed a slap right across her face.

Iris was left completely dazed. Before she could even react, she was yanked up and tossed out of the operating room.

โ€œWhere did this lunatic even come from?โ€ she muttered under her breath. Iris clutched her stinging, swollen cheek in utter, fiery pain, making her grit her teeth.

Her eyes went red with rage. โ€˜Damn it, he actually slapped me,' she fumed.

Just as she was about to kick the door, someone called out to her. โ€œIs that you, Iris? What are you doing here?โ€

Josef spotted Iris standing outside the operating room. He knew sheโ€™d had a hand in Leoโ€™s mess, but sheโ€™d wiped her tracks so clean there was no proof tying her to it. Still, he was sure she was nothing but trouble.

โ€œIโ€™m a doctor. Whatโ€™s wrong with being in a hospital?โ€ Iris fumed, with nowhere to vent her anger, and shot him a dirty look.

โ€œYou might be a doctor, but you have no right to be in this operating room. You clearly have bad intentions. If you donโ€™t get lost now, Iโ€™ll call the police,โ€ Josef said coldly.

โ€œIs that any way to talk to a doctor?โ€ Iris shot back.

Josef rolled his eyes. โ€œYouโ€™re a doctor, not a god. Why should I worship you? Dream on. Besides, you donโ€™t even act like a real doctor.

โ€œYou give off such a dangerous vibe, not a shred of compassion. People like you are probably headed straight to hell.โ€

Just because Josef didnโ€™t expose her involvement in Leoโ€™s mess didnโ€™t mean he was an idiot. Leoโ€™s connections werenโ€™t that deep. Iris was definitely the one pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Iris clenched her fists, worried sheโ€™d blow a fuse if she stayed any longer. She stomped off in her high heels, fuming:

"Damn the Bayer family. Damn Sienna. None of them is kind. Bunch of inhuman bastards. Just wait, all of you. Iโ€™ll make you pay for this, every last one of you,โ€ she swore to herself.

Realizing she couldnโ€™t interfere with Calvinโ€™s surgery, Iris stormed back to her office in a rage.

When a nurse came to ask her to see a patient, Iris shoved the nurse aside and snapped, โ€œNot just anyone deserves to book an appointment with me. Tell them to get lost.โ€
