Chapter 209

Not far away, Josef stood behind Calvinโ€™s wheelchair, his sharp gaze fixed on the panicked Leo.

Youโ€™re done for, Leo, Josef thought coldly.

โ€œNo matter how many times I test it, the resultโ€™s the same. Take it away,โ€ the bodyguard said.

โ€œYou must be mistaken. This is the ZS Serum. Thereโ€™s no way itโ€™s wrong. I even keep it by my bedside when I sleep,โ€ Leo insisted.

The bodyguard tossed the box back to him. Leo fumbled it open, his eyes bulging in disbelief. Thisโ€ฆ this isnโ€™t the ZS Serum. Itโ€™s the sleeping medication I gave Josef, he thought.

Whenโ€ฆ when was it switched? Leoโ€™s mind raced.

โ€œWas itโ€ฆ that moment when someone bumped into me getting out of the car?โ€

Leoโ€™s hand trembled as he stared at the plain bottle of sleeping medication. His heart sank like a stone into icy water.

โ€œAh! Josef!โ€ Leo roared, unwilling to give in.

The bodyguards exchanged a look and walked over. โ€œSince this isnโ€™t the ZS Serum, youโ€™ll have to return the thirteen million dollars you took from us.โ€

Leo was speechless. The money was practically in his hands, and now it was gone.

But he didnโ€™t dare cross these people. Heart aching, he could only hand over his card for them to swipe.

Smack! The card hit the ground.

โ€œThereโ€™s not a single cent on this card!โ€ the bodyguard snarled.

โ€œYou think this is funny? Thereโ€™s nโ€“โ€

This guyโ€™s got a death wish. Does he have any idea who our boss is? Trying to pull the same trick over and over, he must be tired of living. Does he think weโ€™re pushovers! the bodyguard thought.

Leoโ€™s jaw dropped. โ€œThatโ€™s impossible! Thereโ€™s at least ten million dollars! How could there be nothing left?โ€

He checked his bank notifications on his phone in disbelief, only to find that every account was empty.

โ€œNo. This canโ€™t be happening! Where did all my money go? I had so much just this morning. Itโ€™s fineโ€ฆ I still have assets overseas,โ€ he tried to reassure himself.

โ€œWait! Wait, just give me three days! I can get the money, I swear. Three days!โ€ Leo pleaded frantically, waving his hands in panic, his voice trembling with fear.

The bodyguard glanced back, nodded, and with a swift kick, knocked over the wheelchair. โ€œLiar! Teach him a lesson!โ€

โ€œNo, please! Please! Stop, stop! Iโ€™ll get you the money, I swear, I still have money!โ€ Leo cried out desperately.

An hour later, Leo, barely clinging to life, was dumped by the side of the road. โ€œYouโ€™d better bring the money tomorrow, or our boss will make your life a living hell. Do you hear me?โ€

Leo nodded feebly. โ€œOโ€“okay.โ€

From across the street, Josefโ€™s eyes narrowed. He made a call. The cops showed up faster than Leo could even stand, snapping handcuffs as they dragged him up. Josef then showed up pushing Calvinโ€™s wheelchair right into view.

Leoโ€™s bloodshot eyes widened. He knew instantly.

โ€œCalvin, please, this is all just a misunderstanding! I can explain, I swear! Weโ€™ve known each other for so many years. You know me better than anyone, Calvin!โ€ Leo pleaded desperately.

Calvin let out a mocking laugh.

โ€œYou canโ€™t do this to me! Have you forgotten? I saved your life once! I saved your life, Calvin! How can you be so ungrateful!โ€ Leo shouted, his voice filled with desperation and anger.

Calvin let out a heavy sigh, his eyes tinged with sadness and regret. Josef rested a hand on his shoulder. โ€œDad, donโ€™t waste your breath on him. People like him donโ€™t deserve sympathy. If it werenโ€™t for Sienna, I wouldnโ€™t be here today.โ€

Calvinโ€™s gaze softened. โ€œIn a few days, Sienna will be visiting your uncle. Go with her.โ€
